Hi guys, new to the forum. Been a bit of a renault fanboy for a while now. My latest and greatest is a 2015 black megane 265 cup which i bought new and collected March 2015. I didn't bother with a trophy as I'm not fussed for the recaros on long journeys and the akra doesn't float my boat, not loud enough and only standard size. I always planned on going about further than just a map.
Got the cup pack and rs monitor.

Absolutely love the thing and the map tweak the other week has transformed the car.

Been out and about boosting round tonight harassing a choice selection of automobiles up to 60mph.

Them on the way home i had a steady Potter over about ten miles, annoyingly i love in a village in a marine hill and that took the guts out of my run, from 48 to what is in the photo!! DSC_4346.webp
 
small update from the last 4 years!!

The back end of 2017 I bought a set of Speedline turini 18's in gold from a guy with a scooby! I had to have the center of the wheel machined out to fit over the megane hub. I went for these as I was fed up with the price of the cup2's on 19" wheels. on the 18's I ran federal RSR's white are a cracking tyre for the money, last loads longer than the cup2's and, while not providing the feel and ultimate grip of the cup2, they were pretty good in the wet.

That was as far as 2017 went as in the December I had a cardiac arrest and woke up in hospital.... not bad for 32!

once out of hospital unfortunately I couldn't drive for 6months and we had to sell a car, me and Lucy decided to sell her clio as it made sense to keep the newer car, the money from the clio sale finalised the megane finance so that rid us of a good few quid a month outgoings.
Once I had my licence back and was working again, we sorted a caddy van out for Lucy to use and got it kitted out with cages for the dogs etc..... but I digress, back to the megane.

I had been speaking to RSTuning about their hybrid kit and mid 2018 I had that fitted.

the car made 365ftlb and 348bhp. I had a few issues with boost leaks (nothing to do with the kit) which lead to a track day Running about 300bhp

In all honesty I didn't think the kit is worth it, the hybrid doesn't give enough extra for the money, although I understand its a game of diminishing returns past a point, but one that having later spent more, got more. but more of that later. I think the hybrid is an ok solution to a bit more power, but the nature of the hybrid being flat out of puff by 360bhp it was never going to give me my ultimate (original) goal of 400bhp.

2019 brought a slight upgrade of performance frictions 348mm two piece floating disc setup and a wicked zero point one shifter. the shifter is by far the best single mod I've done to the car. the feel of occasion along with it making for such a mechanical feel to the shift is just wicked. makes me feel sorry for auto/dsg boys.
 
How did the pod times compare, wouldn't want to get done by the missus - well not in that way :0
mega late reply to this, of which I apologise, if you still use the site!! from memory i ran a 14.0 at about 103-104 and lucy got a low 15 in the clio. we did end up with a quaife lsd and federal rsr tyres but never got back down with both cars.

we also didnt get many runs in on the day. I should've hit a high 13 with the spec but never mustered it!
 
2020 Brought the need of my cambelt service and having been speaking to Paul at RST about a set of cat cams we discussed getting power from the hybrid. he said i would see about 375max from the cams. the idea of fitting the cams was that with the belts being done it was a negligible addition to labour costs to fit the cams. but he said that would be the t20 hybrid flat out giving all it had to give, and that i wouldn't get to 400bhp.

he said that his garrett kit with capped torque, would get me there, albeit at a cost! so that was the way was going to go.

Miraculously within a few weeks one popped up on Ebay!! full kit, being sold, unused!!
2850 later and a trip (pre first lockdown) to Bristol to collect and I had a wicked looking garrett turbo. the plan was to save for forging so i could go big on the power!
The hybrid wasn't happy about this though and started to play up. I struggled on another trackday with a boost leak, which in turn over stressed the turbo, and she ate herself!!

Post first lockdown i booked in at RST for the kit to be fitted.

355ftlb an 393bhp on a fully stock motor with a standard clutch and flywheel. and the car is immense! sounds like a touring car/jap import

I've done 2 track days and about 8k worth of miles and the car hasn't missed a beat. granted this is twice the cost of the hybrid setup, it is leagues ahead, the turbo made 350bhp on gate pressure! once funds allow it'll be getting cammed and forged with uprated fuel system and ringing the turbo for north of 500

Yeah all is well, have a defibrillator sewn under my skin and a replacement mitral valve, also get to take blood thinners and beta blockers for the rest of my life lol. Modern tech, it's incredible what they can do.



As for the car. Alot have forged engines for 330-350bhp lol. Waste of money.

I'm running no more torque now than when the car was 317bhp, in actual fact I'm running less now! People get hung up on bhp destroying engines. Its torque (twist) that does it. If your engine can take 350ftlb at 2000rpm, it can take it at 6000.
