Other ( non Renault ) F3P turbo engine gearbox help

Hi guys and girls of the renault forum.

I would like some help with my volvo 460 turbo with a B18FT (renault F3P) engine and ZF 4hp14 automatic gearbox (I know you guys like to put them in R5's and tweak the hell out of them).

This motor was 120bhp and is now 170-ish. The gearbox is now a breaking point as it will only take a maximum of 135bhp roughly and has burnt the forward clutches out.

Has anyone got any ideas of adequate gearboxes to replace the zf 4HP14? I'm ideally doing this on a budget as corona is causing me to jump from job to job at the moment.

Someone mentioned any renault gearbox would just bolt up to the block, to that end I have a ND0 020 from my old renault megane f1 225 with the F4Rt engine. Could I mate this gearbox and do a manual conversion with the f3p engine?

The f4Rt engine and gearbox could fit in the car, however that would make an already lengthy project even longer and more complex as well as expensive! I just want to enjoy driving the car and getting it roadworthy and reliable.
 
I think you can get away with any jb series gearbox as long as the mounting for the auto are the same maybe even a jc box from a 172. @Haz might know the answer to that one. The ndo is huge and would require alot of work to fit.
 

im also assuming that the shafts and stuff will fit fine, again not sure. With doing a manual swap its obviously going to be a bit more than just fit the box. Good luck though and get some pics up (y)

Ray-le-otter - a little video on my 460 turbo, skip to around 4 mins to hear it rev if you want, or watch the whole thing...it's a work in progress, my first major project and started out as a non runner and crusty bottom. Had to adapt parts aswell 😁 first time welding and first time delving into more than just bolt on parts and paint, so some of it will look bodge...tips and tricks would be welcomed. And yes I know the car isn't worth much before anyone questions that 🤣🤣

Ndo wont bolt straight up to the b18 and will need different cable shifter, hydraulic clutch etc.

Should be able to pick up a volvo manual b18ft box fairly easy if you sniff round on facebook, which id think is preferable to keep your speedo working, im sure they are electronic.

Failing that id use jb3032 which is gt turbo and has electronic speedo sensor, loads available. Failing that clio 172/182 jc5 but might lose speedo

I have just been looking into changing the auto for a manual box, I need to change the subframe on this car aswell as different driveshafts 🙃

Yes it is electronic speedo. Would a custom mount be better?
