Other ( non boosted Renault ) Espace Mk2 2.0i Gear Change Linkage

Car > Espace Mk2 2.0i 1994. Will not say how many miles - would not believe - great Car.

Part of the Gear Change mechanism consist of a Metal Rod from the Gear Change to the Gear Box.

At each end is a Banjo into which a Clear Plastic 'Cotton Reel' is pressed which then accomodates a Metal nipple - one at the Gear Change Lever and one at the Gear Box.

I am informed the Renault Part No is 60 25102 535 but that the part is no longer available.

I was told the same last year - but an older Parts Dept guy then arrived by chance - said he would send for one which he did within a week.

Any advice on where I can try to source - I would think must have been used for many vehicles.

Best Rgds.

HI Duncan,

thnxs for reply - unfortunately I did not take an Image of the spare I had - now installed - wish I had - I have the exploded part image given by the garage.

I am fairly OK at ad-lib stuff - using similar parts not the same etc - for example the rear rubber bump stops I just fitted are apparently really the front stops for a
Chevy Express 1500 2500 TahoeChevey whatever that is - perfect fit.

But I think Renault possibly still have the Part and it is just that the Parts Dept could not be bothered.

I think that the Chap I previously met by chance last time went to the bother of getting shipped from France - it took maybe a week to arrive.

So do you know how I can contact Renault in France - they will either laugh and that will be end of it or go out of their way to help.

My wife is french - I know the psych. ;o))

I already used a tough Plastic Cork for the past year - forced into the Banjo - drilled smaller diameter hole than the Nipple centrally in it and then forced Nipple into Cork - it worked fine - but I wanted to now set it all up correctly - as I have the time.

Rgds

Hi,

I have misled you because the Part No is not correct - I have been checking out on 'renaultgenuineparts' and that Part No references the Connecting Bar - I took Parts Dept Ref No as 'Gospel'.

Bar perfectly fine and in use.

I did wonder why you were talking ref metal rods etc - now I understand.

I do not want to jump to conclusions but the Parts Dept chap was young and very flippant when he knew the age of the vehicle - the fact that it is immaculate and well looked after - irrelevant.

All I want is the plastic insert that goes into the Banjo - I received last time I ordered so I know it is possible.

I have scanned the exploded parts image - I will try to Attach - part marked with RED Arrows.

But the problem now is that I do not know the Part No of the insert.

I am back to the Parts Dept on Monday - will keep my cool if some effort is made - because you can bet the same part was used in a number Renault Models.

I will get back and let you know what transpires.

Best Rgds & Thnxs.

A quick Google and readily available Bush G part and genuine renault £3.72 each. They are the same bush either end of the bar ;)
Will double check to ensure same diameter etc - grateful - I knew if I came here I would get the info needed.

Only thing now is to get it installed - I thought it would be an easy insert with a bit of silicone spray and some grips - but finally I had to detach the whole piece and use a Vice and even then the Bush wanted to go anywhere but into the Banjo of the connecting rod.

So a bit of work and all will be well.

Once again my thnxs.

Yep pressing in some bushes can be fun but not too bad if you have a vice to help. I use threaded bar, selection of big washers, tube and nuts etc, still got me out of buying a proper bush press/removal tool ;)
