Dzus Fastners (Ones that keep the engine over on)

I'm after 4 of the small Dzus fasteners that are used to keep the engine over on and keep the tray in under the bonnet.

Alternatively if anybody knows where I could find some cheaply that would be of equal help!

Yeah I've been reading up about them James, saw a lot of reference to £50 for org ones from Renault. There are loads being sold on eBay etc but getting the exact size is hard.

Thanks James would never have found that thread searching Dzus fastener, glad you know all the threads so well! Have emailed them.

Well if you find the right ones for the engine cover i'd be VERY interested as i've searched high and low and i'm about to go to an agent for Southco to get them.

Go to your local Renault dealer!

Got some of these fasteners today for £5.13 +vat each (PartNo: 6020011283)

Don't know why this myth about them costing £50 has come from!

Grant,

If there are 8 then this works out at just over £41 plus VAT so perhaps that is where the £50 came from ?

Part number : 6020011283 is for the front liner under the bonnet.

Surely Renault haven't supplied Grant with the wrong part [smilie=icon_eek.gif] as their customer service is usually second to none [smilie=icon_cry.gif]

Well James, he printed off a diagram sheet of the front compartment, i pointed to the little fasteners and he said ok, went back and got a price, i said fine. Done.

p.s. the description of the part is "SCREW"

I thought you wanted the engine cover ones not the front compartment?

Read a recent post by ozbird saying Demon Tweeks sorted her out with the right clips.

Can I qualify that slightly? They do fit but are not ideal. They are slightly too long so don't push down hard enough on the rubber seal, plus they have to be lined up perfectly with the nut to lock them. With a screwdriver!

The front ones are a lot shorter than the engine ones... So they cannot be used as a direct replacement. Sorry for any false hope!

Tried swapping one tonight. Nope don't work. (must cancel Renault order first thing tomorrow!)

Spent ages removing the DT clips (don't buy them!) and put the original covers back on.

Aah much better. 8)

Not by choice, I have in the past looked into these clips in detail.

Examine the differences closely. You may find there are grooves on the engine cover ones to hold the retainer washers. These fix the Dzus clips onto the cover so they don't fall all over the place when lifting the cover off. (my so called specialist garage GDI threw my retaining washers away)

The front tray clips don't have this safe guard, just stick them in your pocket as you undo them.

I suspect Renault/TWR got SouthCo or similar company to make a few hundred bespoke clips to suit, and as well know only too well, these small batches cost silly amounts.

With your permission I would like to move this topic into our Technical section.
