Driveline Shunt

Hi everyone, I have just purchased a Phase 2 Sport in Illiad Blue which has made its way to Australia. Having no experience with these cars I have a few questions you may be able to help me with. I have joined the Club.

The car has just had an engine out full service, which involved some replacement engine mounts. It has quite a lot of driveline shunt at low speeds, is this normal for these?

I need a few cosmetic things for it:

Radio antenae, gasket base and mast
Door pull surrounds, left and right
Dashtop vent covers, just under the windscreen
Full set of water hoses

Can you tell me the best place to buy these and is willing to ship to Oz?

Thanks for your help
John

Congrats on the new purchase and welcome to the Club!

Is yours a freshly arrived Phase 2 into Australia? If it is a past import then the previous owner might have been a member here.

For parts I use Wolf Imports, he is actually based in Brisbane I think, absolutely nice gentlemen to deal with! I have purchased parts from since 2011.Wolf Imports

Would you be able to describe where the shunt noise coming?

Thanks Shinji.

The car has been here for at least three years I think.

When the revs drop below 2,000 in any gear it's not smooth it jerks, to fix it you have to get the revs up. I wonder if it isn't in the clutch and/or perhaps the dual mass flywheel has been changed. This jerkiness is ok in a race car, but not in a road car.

^^^ Doesn't sound normal with dual or single mass flywheel.

Further investigation needed, good luck :approve:

Hi John,

Certainly doesn't sound common. Hopefully others on the forum can help with the diagnosis.

My vee is in the process of getting the engine mounts replace. There is one bottom engine mount that is connected to the sub frame and if that is shot, it would give some jerks if you aren't nice with the clutch.

Good luck and hope it isn't too expensive

Engine mounts would be first visit for me, bolts can shear off leaving the engine flapping about! If the dual mass has given up the ghost the car would be driving with fully variomatic transmission, massive clutch slip

Just get someone to lift and drop the clutch pedal with the brakes on and look at the engine with the covers off, soon see/hear any problems with the mounts.

Hi John,

Congrats to another Aussie owner and I hope you get things sorted soon so you can fully enjoy the little beast! What city are you in?
