LOL keep em coming lads ;-)

Had the insurance on the phone this morning, they're arguing that the quote i've submitted is way too high in terms of labour hours required for the job.... Unfortunately they're just messing me around...... I trust Jay's quote is accurate and i've had numerous other quotes from other bodyshops that are stating the same hours, yet the ''insurance engineers'' are trying to say the job requires 20 hours less than Jay has quoted for. What utter b0llocks......

Someone remind me again why I pay £850 each year for this sh*te service.........

Its been 2 months now and I want my vee back on the road!!!

Dig your feet in girl, they will too expecting you to cave in, but at the end of the day it's your car and you want the best job. Why not ask them to give Jay a ring so he can articulate his opinion and quality of work - I am sure he would oblige.

you can put the owner in the small claims court they should be insured under their house insurance as for insurance company many years of dealing with them they are cheating lying bastards just out to shaft you so my advice for he next time is load your claim whip lash camera fell of seat smashed dimond ring on the dash bounced out of the open window on inpact broke the heel on ya jimmy chew shoe etc etc and maybe by the time the have knocked it all back you may end up some thing like

They keep coming up with more and more excuses! Now they're saying that they are refusing to approve the quote from Jay because the hourly rate for labour is ridiculously expensive!!?!?! Anyone who's had work done by Jay will know that he doesn't charge ridiculous prices! Funny thing is that i've had 4 quotes in total and 3 of them (including Jays) are all charging the same labour rate. The only one which is cheaper is Renaults bodyshop funnily enough, which I guess is because they're not a specialist bodyshop, just a dealers.

So now the insurance have approved me for there, when I didn't ask to be approved for there, they've got in touch with that bodyshop saying get me booked in when I NEVER said I would go there, they know full well I want to go to Jays. Its a fcuking joke. But they're adamant that they will not approve Jay's quote based on his labour charges?!?! AAARRRGHHHHHHHH!!!!

I did speak to trading standards who said I can make a formal complaint and they'll have to assess it again within the insurance company, if that doesn't get anywhere then I can make a complaint via trading standards and they will independantly assess everything, and if they eventually agree with me then that decision is binding and the insurance are forced to pay, but lets face it, how long is all that gonna take?! In the meantime my vee has already been off the road for 2 months and I need it back!!

Hey Emma,

I don't think they're likely to budge on this one.
TBH the insurance company is always going to only be concerned with the price and not the quality.

I'd say you've got 3 options:

1) Ask the insurance company if you can pay "the difference" to let Jay take care of the work.
2) Just let the Renault franchise get on with it (and scrutinise the finish yourself).
3) Just let the Renault franchise get on with it (and pay Jay to scrutinise the finish).

:approve:

Does your Renault dealer actually to the work? mine doesn't, they use the same place many other local dealers us.

No Trident are a Renault Approved Bodyshop - they also do Sasb, Citroen, Fiat etc. But I refuse to take my car there because I don't know anyone who can vouch for the work. There's numerous people on here who can vouch for Jays work aren't there. And as my insurance will only guarantee the work if I take it to their approved bodyshop (Perrys of Vauxhall) then I'm gonna be stuck if I get Renault to do the job and then the paint starts crackling down the line. I know most bodyshops will guarantee work for a year but its after that which concerns me. I only have faith in Jay becuase of all the feedback I've got.

The fact of the matter is they're saying Jay is over priced but when you look at the other 2 quotes also at the same labour rate, he obviously isn't. So their argument isn't even logical!

Had an issue when an ex had her Mitsubishi damaged by a third party, the 3rd party insurers insisted on using thier preferred repairer which was a local 'Lookers' bodyshop, we tride to resist in preference for the Mitsubishi repairers but to no avail. The 'Lookers' work was rejected twice, due to poor quality work, and so we then were able to insist on the rework being done by the Mitsubishi dealer which they then agreed to.

I think insurers do tend to tie bodyshops down to low rates to generate business but it is in the repairers interest to do a good job otherwise the insurer will penalise them. So if you have to use the recommended insurer you may be best off indicating to them what a fastidious owner you are and that you expect a top job and will have the car inspected carefully and rejected if there are any issues. Of course you shouldn't have to do this in an ideal world.

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO i'm like an excitable child lol !!!!! Can't wait!!!!!

Thanks so much for your patience and efforts at getting this resolved Jay, you're a star - and you've not even started the vee yet lol!

Looking forward to getting him down to you tomorrow [smilie=thanks.gif]

Well lets just say the so-called independant assessor that they appointed knew nothing about specialist cars - he didn't even know what a V6 was... Asking me stupid questions like 'does it have back seats' and I said no so he said 'whats in the back then?' so I said 'the engine' and he said 'what else?' LOL

First thing he did when he arrived was put his clipboard and camera on top of the car.......................................................................................................

After numerous attempts of Jay trying to reason with him, we eventually sorted it out, but not without 3 weeks of constant arguing and battling first....

I hope anyone else who is with Admiral doesn't have a bump cos they're a bl00dy nightmare!!!!

Glad you've finally got it sorted Em :)
Hugo will be back as good as new after Jay's worked his magic :approve:
Then roll on Lakes meet :race:

good to see you today emma, hope you got home ok.
work starts on your vee in the morning [smilie=icon_cheers.gif]
many thanks
