Does it come with a tracker?
All UK-supplied cars come with RAC Trackstar as standard. These are fitted at Renault's import centre upon arrival into the UK. Many insurers require a tracker on the V6, and so you many need to provide the installation certificate that was supplied with the car as evidence of fitting.
When new, one year's subscription was included (subject to the owner registering their details), and there was an offer for a reduced rate life time subscription rate of £195 if purchased within the first 6 months. It should be noted that a lifetime subscription is only for the ownership lifetime of the person who paid for it ... it is non-transferable.
When you buy a second hand V6 you should contact RAC Trackstar to register your ownership details, and pay the subscription. Again lifetime subscriptions are available at approximately the cost of 3 times annual subscription.
V6s that were parallel imports into the UK, even though they should be full UK spec cars, will not necessarily have an RAC Trackstar fitted. It is only standard on UK-supplied cars and was an extra step carried out by Renault UK at their import centre.
