Custom Exhaust

I was away seeing today about a custom exhaust for the vee. I showed him the picture of Harry's exhaust which he had custom made. I tolf the fella i wanted is louder with more pps and bangs, so what he has suggested is doing away with the collector box therefore doing away with 2 of the cats and then bringing both pipes into the backbox and crossing them over for a more straight flow to improve airflow then exist the backbox at the sides.

I was wondering what type of setup people would recommend for a custom exhaust? I am pretty clueless when it comes to this haha..

He has suggested using 2.5'' piping and just leave the other 2 cats as they are.

Any comments are more than welcome, pictures of custom exhaust and videos would be even better :)

Thanks,
Jonny

My car is going in tomorrow now for the custom exhaust fit, i have decided to go with this design of exhaust, the same as Adrian's. The only difference is i will be keeping the cats on the down pipes and having no cats at the side of the backbox. Should this do the same job? Also i will be using 2.5'' pipe instead of 2'' like Adrian's.

Whats it like to remove the down pipes? are the bolts tight? How akward is the job?

Also are the top 2 cats cast?

Thanks,
Jonny

And whats the standard ones like mate? will this make much difference to the sound if i just use standard ones?

I Measured the sound pressure inside my car today. Around 100Km/h it's about 92 DB. So when driving this on daily basis, hearing damage can be expected. :violin:

If you use the cats on the downpipes you can keep the lamba sensors which is an improvement I think. :approve:
Don't know about the performance/sound though.

Make some pics when the exhaust is made :approve:

Removing the downpipes is no hard job. When all the engine covers are removed you can easily get to the downpipes. First remove all the heatshields and maybe loosen the bracket of the two oil pipes on the subframe.

Yea i am looking to keep the lambda sensors mate to try and avoid the engine management light coming on. Also i think having the 2 cats on the downpipes will be the same as having them down beside the backbox. Will i be able to fit a 2.5'' pipe onto the bottom of the cat's on the downpipes? Cant wait to hear what its like when its all fitted.

Has anyone ever broken any bolts takeing the cat's etc off?

Does anyone know what way the pipes go inside the trophy backbox? Do they cross over or what way do they go once they go into the backbox?
