consoles

I'm so glad nobody packages games in cardboard boxes any more (I'm looking at you Nintendo)

The old style Warner Brothers half cardboard DVD cases fuck me right off too.

As a fellow retro games collector I'm sure Chris will agree with me on the games boxes, in fact any collector will agree.

I'm on the fence as to whether "retro game collector" is cool or not

I think it might be given that "retro" is cool for now

Yeah it's funny how when I was a teenager if you liked computer/console games you were considered a nerd etc, these days its the norm.

I completely 100% concur ont he nintendo boxes, the other ones thats piss me off? The Sega Game gear boxes also cardboard. Its a bloody disaster. The amiga boxes are not so bad as they are thick cardboard, the only issue with them is the damn size of the funking boxes themselves, A4 sized and about as thick as a 200 sheet paper stack.

The shitty saturn card ones were crap as well.

The advent of digital media was a blessing, the dvd style cases meant a lot less space was taken up and it also means you can readily buy storage for them.

The PS1 cases are nice, I like them. The dreamcast cases are nice to look at but if you look at them funny they break and crack.

I just collect them tbh, never play them, I will sell them when I move, I really need to start sellign some off just now as I have no room. But some auctions go for silly money and my gear is in much better condition with far better games/[eropherals.

gaming has certainly gone a lot more mainstream. The playstation generation and all that. The PS made it ok for a gamer to have a girlfriend!

You even get them in pubs and clubs these days

That was the marketing masterstroke of the original Playstation - games like Wipeout with Chemical Brothers soundtracks on games pods placed in nightclubs.

i think i have an atari system somewhere, the console, not sure if it works tho, and some games, Yars revenge was one of them, again, not sure they work tho
