Well my petrol light was on as i was really really low on petrol and i could feel the car kind of juddering as though it was gonna cut out just as I got onto the petrol station forecourt.

Anyway, put £20 of petrol in, started up the car and a light came on the dash and started to flicker on and off.

I started to drive it and immeadiately noticed it sounded like an impreza and lacked power. Straight away I thought it was a coil.

But I've just got home and turned the ignition off, started it up and it idled fine. Not lumpy. Could it have been a small glitch or if I drive it for more than 1 minute the problem will come back again?

I'm going to take it out in 2 mins to pickup my gf from work.

Am I ok to drive it if a coil definately has gone? I need to get to work 2moro which is 15 miles and see if I can get a hold of a coil and replace it at work.

What's the best way to find out which coil has gone? I hope the inlet mani doesn't have to come off?

Ta,

Chris

Nah it's definately the coil(s) that's gone, it wasn't fuel starvation as i've just been out in it. Seems to start ok but when you drive it the light sometimes flickers on and it lacks power.

How much are coils and how easy are they to install? I need it doing ASAP as i'm possibly selling the car next Saturday. Other than that the car is running fine.

AS above questions, am I ok to drive the car or not?

You are supposed to keep 2 gallons in the tank due to the fuel feed requirements.

Thats why the light comes on whilst you still register fuel.

The intension is that you fill up at the first garage.

The coils are held in place by a 8mm bolt.

Do you have a pic of where they are located? I'm going to try and have to get a hold of one off renault 2moro and try replacing it.

From above it may not be a coil.

See how it goes.

Get the dealer to do a diagnostic if you still have a problem and he should be able to tell which coil has gone down.

Will save a lot of your time trying each coil in tern
