Coilovers

Sounds good Simon. Not really suprised that they have been sent to you with no pre height setting. That's usually down to the fitter. Personaly I'd take measurements from 4 places to determine your original ride height. The first two would be both rear corners of your back subframe and the other two being the sill along from the jacking point. These are 4 solid datum points that regardless of panel fit etc etc will be similar from car to car.

It's a bit trial and error, the first time i fitted mine it looked slammed! Ended up winding them up an inch!

Same here Ali, Set that low, they were going through the earth...

Mind you KW's are still 10mm lower at their highest setting than standard ride height

Coilovers fitted with no fuss, 4 wheel aligment booked for Thursday and then I can play with the damping settings. I have them set in the middle all around at present. I have kept the front at the ride height I measured before removal of the old units but lowered the rear 12mm which looks good on the car and feels about right. I have taken a few photos and notes and will upload once I have sorted all the settings out.

Will be getting some as well. :)

Been impressed with everything I've read about them and I just can't justify the price of the KWs considering what I use the car for. Really think the lack of v1 and v2 is purely to force people to shell out for the v3, which are specced way above and beyond the use most people will put them to.

Has anyone spoke to KW about producing v1 and 2's? They obviously have the pattern so I can't see it being a problem.

Rear Shocks as out of box, but I lowered them 11mm (mearsure between locknuts (91mm) and using a vernier make gap 80mm. Leave front shocks as supplied (56mm) between locknuts.

Showing detail of shocks, well made.

Original top mounts added to new coilovers, no issues really but best to use spring compressors to remove from old units.

This bit is important for setting up car after installation (4 wheel alignment). Looking at top hole/slot of picture the slot needs extending at least 2mm towards shock body so correct camber can be set. Rear shocks only, The fronts came into limits without modification

First trip out after fitment, the roads were wet so not ideal but car felt pretty planted.

Not sure of badge!!

Basically if you extend the slots of the rear shocks as pictured the car will have all the adjustment to set up correctly, I used Christchurch Tyres in Dorset, They had all the knowledge and skill, the car feels absolutely fantastic and I am really pleased with the results. I need to trial different damping settings but at present I have them set at position 10 out of 30 which is firm but not uncomfortable.

If you need anymore info give me a shout

Cheers Simon

Good man Simon, good to see something else tryed for a change
Keep the updates coming as we may go the same route ;)

Good to see an alternative out there! I don't think they look as robust as the KW's...Certainly from a rear strut platform perspective; but that could just be snob value...

Good call though and the car look great!
