I really fancy coming to this after speaking to you Shaun at the weekend. Is there a deadline to register by - I won't know until I get my timetable for next years teaching if I can't book the time off that's all.

^^^May be getting confused with the Festival of Renault that was called off? This event is organised by the main French v6 website.

I thought this has been called off. Still got the time off work and still working on renewing my passport.

As taipan said Pugs.. Festival Renault was the weekend before, and has been put back a year almost, until July 2013. This meet is organised by v6passion, or French v6 friends who also organised the Mas du Clos week a couple of years back. It'll be a very well run meeting and we're sure to be well looked after :)

Coming along? ;)

For those that are interested (or have done things with v6passion on the continent before) what's the usual plan? Go out Friday come back Monday? Longer, shorter?

Also, I understand that there have been some key rule changes in France recently regarding motorists. For instance I think I read somehwere that any device that can act as a speed camera detector (my sat nav and my phone!!) aren't allowed in the car even if the capability is disabled. Am I recollecting twaddle?

Finally, has anyone got a handy "things to remember when driving in France" type information. From memory you have to have your photocard licence AND paper licence and also a handy supply of cash for any fines or risk getting the motor impounded. And obviously Eurpoean Insurance cover and potentially even breakdown cover.

I would suggest we make a late night Friday or very early one on Saturday morning. Circuit Linas-Montlhery is just under 3.5hrs from Calais. I think traveling back on the Monday would be more appropriate and leisurely, certainly for those that are traveling from the North of England.

Radar detectors are forbidden. I cant imagine the Gendarme's will be checking anyone's phone though, but your take it at your own risk, or if its an App, remove it to be on the safe side.

For traveling in France, it is compulsory to carry with you, or have fitted;

- Original Registration Documents
- Certificate of Motor Insurance
- GB stickers
- Head lamp beam convertors
- Warning triangle
- Hi-Viz jacket, preferably for each occupant.
- Breathalyser
- From 1st July 2012 all vehicles travelling in France must carry a breathalyser "NF" (Norme Française) approved. The AA recommend that two are carried and this handy twin pack fulfils our recommendation. This product carries the “NF” French certification mark and is therefore designed to meet the obligation under French law that anyone driving in France carries a NF standard breathalyser from 1st July 2012.

Information taken from The AA

Breathalyser seems really stupid! Why would you drive if drunk and then carry a breathalyser to incriminate yourself at the roadside if stopped!!!! Just another money making scheme. Bizarre is all I can say.

Hi guys, i'm sorry i was a bit busy these days...

So no problem for the trophy to come :approve:

For the VW, is it just to come visit us or to go on track ?

For the breathanalyzer, no need to buy one..... It seems you forget it's France  so yes it's a requirement from the 1st July but will be fined just from 1st November :approve:

For the radar detector it's like Shaun said...... it's totally forbidden, even if it's off in the car..... but the product like Coyote are allowed ;)

And for the satnav' and phone's radar detector software, you have to update the software...... but again it's France and the police can't search on your phone or satnav' in your car..... so personnally i haven't update them and drive with it :approve:
