Clio Clio Sport 172, ph2

Just spoke to Green light insurance, Can insure the van with everything declared for £300 F/C for the year, included Euro cover, Track day cover can be added for £45 a day, dont cover the ring. didn't think that was to bad, Greenlight will mirror my NCB from my other car so that is a bonus.

The van is hopefully being delivered on Friday, going to my mates work shop along with the clio on Monday to swap a few bits about and I will give the clio a quick wash a do a full advert for sale on here. :)

Got it then? I see no pics
Got it... It's broken..... Joys of buying long distance....

It's not that bad... Sounds like a diesel on tick over... Hence the belts and dephaser needing doing and the gear linkage is way off.... Awaiting for a friend of mine to check that over as I don't have the time.. thankfully the bloke behind me is into his Clios, and is a mechanic for a high performance sport garage and worked at Nissan for years... Has all the Renault tools to do the belts at a great price..

The seats out of the van will be going as I don't like them, but will pay for the work needed :)

Dephaser rattle is becoming quite common these days. Wonder how long till the 197 and 200 lot start getting it. Though it's a different part on them

Rattle, sounds like a bad diesel... Had to check the engine had been swapped when I started it up :)

The van has a fubbered gearbox... 5th gear synchro and diff is buggered...

Looking for a replacement... Ph1 box or cup box... If anyone knows of one for sale :)

I thought I would do an update...

The van has been sold to @Brigsy , what with the up coming ring trip I have decided to take the 172.

Having no service history with the car and no joy finding any previous owners, I have no idea regarding the belts etc..

So spoke to a friend of mine who is a very good mechanic (worked at Nissan for 7 years, now working for a Ferrari and Lamborghini specialist), he loves his clios... Having a phase 1 172 and a lovely 200, he has agreed to fit belts, pumps, driveshafts, sort the abs issue, fit uprated engine and gearbox mounts, exhaust hangers and replace the suspension with new cup shocks and springs (most likely cooksport).

But his Renault timing tools are out on loan ATM and he doubt he will get them back soon... Anybody selling a set? Or prepared to loan me a set for a few weeks (will happily pay for renting & replace with new if lost of damaged)...
