clio etoile cam belt question

hi all stan here
daughters clio w reg 85000 miles ran out of power the other day. took to local garage who said cam belt snapped. car still turns over and sounds ok but doesnt start 1.4 16 valve any clues or ideas please

Did the garage replace the timing belt?

If not.... The bottom the engine will still turn over,
The top half won't...so it can't start,


Also more then likely it'll have bent the valves in the top of the engine :/

thanks 172lover no garage havnt replaced cam belt but at least youve answered the question. me being non mechanic i didnt think the engine would have turned over and it sounds ok. for sale renault clio sold as seen lol many thanks sttan
