Clio Clio 1.5 k9k dci oil filter leak/questions

Brigsy

Media Mogul. Instagram legend.
So my little runabout clio 1.5dci has sprung an oil leak and has started to pepper the drive with oil drips. Looked today and the oil was dripping out of the banjo bolt that holds the 90deg piece of alloy to the water/oil cooler (think i disturbed it slightly when wrestling the old filter off as some monkey had super tightened it). I thought it was a standard banjo bolt initially so nipped it up 1/4 of a turn and the fecker started pissing out a fountain of oil so had to shut the engine down pronto.

Initially i thought i had cracked the housing but from looking it seems ok and the o-rings on the banjo have gone hard and flat with age and it looks like renault do a seal kit for a tenner so easy fix.

The big question is do you actually need this alloy part?? as i had the filter off and did not want any shite going in the hole i screwed it straight onto the block in place of this. fired it up for a few seconds no leaks, its close to the alternator but not touching anything. Tempted to bin it ? Pic of the offending article.

Use to do a fare few in the day
You will need to retain assembly, the leak should be straight forward to fix with a new dowty washer & square O ring from your local dealership.
PM the reg & chassis number I will look up the numbers you will need.

Sorry for the late reply
You have the correct part number on your Dialogys screen (7701473629) £10.90+Vat
I have also checked NPDC & they are showing one kit, I also checked some old notes, and it is possible to crack the housing if over tightened so please double check just in case.

Cheers @Red21 i ordered a kit on saturday should be here this week. The housing looks ok no cracks i have give it a thorough clean up to check. Whats the torque setting for the bolt ?

Kit arrived and fitted - job jobbed. Took it for a ride out and had a check when i got back - still a little tiny bit of wet oil if you rub the underside of thr big rubber o ring but not enough to even worry about. Tempted to nip it up a little more but darent after last weeks fiasco. Will monitor it for a couple of days.20160330_174836.webp
