Cheap Tyres Here ...

I just did the old check around and this ALLNEWTYRES popped up, even cheaper than CAMSKILL ...

Here is the link for Falken 452 245/40/18 97Y tyres at £104.33 each ... This is as cheap as I can find anywhere for these tyres ...

Falken 452 245/40/18 97Y

I have ordered two which incurs an £8 or so deliver charge so we will see how this goes and report back. I managed to find, at last, a local fitter who is happy to fit and balance the tyres for £10 each.

The main site is ALLNEWTYRES

I spoke to a guy there, they have a freephone number - BONUS, and he say they have plans to be the biggest on-line tyre supplier and are claim to already be one of the biggest players on e-bay ...

good stuff

i have just ordered 2 falkens 245/35 - 18s for £218 including delivery from camskill which i thought was a bargain too.

bonus for me there only 40 miles away in case of any problems.....

Buying tyres online is the way forward but actual tyre shops such as Kwik fit hate it!!

The only problem i have come across is getting them fitted cheaply, my local place charges £15 a corner, so £10 is a good price :approve:

I agree Mossy, hence finding a fitter first as otherwise you end up paying a price more akin to retail prices but without the fitter perhaps feeling they are making the right level of margin ... It's all well and good trying to get a cheap deal on things but you want the quality service and dilligence - I think we all agree there ...

The thing was the fitter I have are a 'black circles' fitter so they are used to fitting on-line tyres and so were happy to do it. I guess they are simply seeing the landscape changing and adapting to it - which is good business practice and I credit them for doing it. If they can get more business fitting tyres people bring in then of course the job should be simple for them, and they don't have the stockingh hassle, so actually that business model probably makes sense for many tyre fitters :-)

£20 for all 4 and a few cans of Fosters! ;)

well the guy refurbing my wheels will be fitting themn for free so i'm ok :approve:

but they wont be ready till mon/tue :(

those sizes at camskill in falken tyres delivered are £310. I wasnt a 100% if the 235's were ok for the ph2 wheels so i opted for the 245's

I think Stevo went for the 235's on the rear due to clearance issue's on his new wheeeels ;) Im having to run 225's on the back due to arch clearance [smilie=icon_eek.gif]

i thought this might be the case but i wasnt sure weather the wheels would take 235's never mind 225's [smilie=icon_eek.gif] thats why i chose the 245's as didnt get much response in my tyre sizes thread..

Sorry Jamie forgot to point out that me and Stevo are talking about the Trophy wheel set up, they are a low offset on the rear, which are 9 inch wide and push the alloys right tight and past the arch walls.

Good info about tyre size options in this thread and about the Trophy wheel 'challenges' :approve:

Tyres arrived today at work, the post room girls are used to bringing me bike and car parts but I let them off with this delivery lol

Main thing was the quick delivery from these guys, so a good price and quick delivery is good so far :)

Fitting tomorrow or Monday ...

Quick update ....

I got the tyres fitted on Saturday - the fitter only wanted £10 all in for both rear tyres fitted and balanced !!!! But TBH I thought that I would be taking the P so gave him the £20 he originally quoted, anyway may need to use them again and don't want to be tight ... The guys really liked the Vee and had loads of questions and looked after the wheels - as you would expect ...

Anyway ... Found out some useful information which may help everyone ...

Apparently all HI-Q franchises will fit mail order tyres, obviously for a fitting fee, which I think is normally £10 per wheel but this may vary and obviously the guys may do you a deal. So this is hopefully useful if you are struggling to find a tyre fitter ...

Just a quick note regarding the Michelins.

Since Michelin stopped making the 205s.

From the chief designer of the Vee MK 2 says the official Renault recommended replacement is :

Michelin Pilot Sport 2
Size: 225/40 R18 (88Y)
