Me and my mate changed the front springs on my Vee yesterday - the drivers side had broken towards the bottom of the spring, about 3 inches round from the tag end.
I meant to take some pictures to add to the "how to" section but left my camera at my house. Doh!
Job was completed sucessfully and the car feels much better now.
Had a nightmare getting the front wheels off, they were seized on nice and tight and took serious encouragement to come off. We greased them up with some copper slip on the way back on so hopefully next time they need to come off it will be a bit easier.
To change the springs it was a case of undoing 2 bolts on the back of the hub carrier and detaching the anti-rooll drop link which was one bolt. Then we put the spring compressors on and un-did the top mount, it's possible to remove the spring / damper without having to split the bottom ball joint which is good.
We gave the damper a bit of a clean up and checked the workings and all look well. Then it was case of putting everything back together. Took around 3 hours to do the job but it would have been much easier if the wheels werent stuck on.
Got the new springs off Paul at RPD - once again, good prices and quick delivery.
