5 GT Turbo carb issue?

Hi everyone,

I’m new to the Renault world and first time I have owned a car with a carburettor.

I have a 1990 ph2 r5 gt turbo starts/drives/runs perfectly fine, but when I ‘blip’ the throttle there is a flat spot or misfire unsure the correct word to use, but you can bring the revs up steady from idle with no issue, would this be a jetting issue?

I did read about cleaning a jet somewhere but can’t seem to find the thread again, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Apologies if there is already information on such an issue I’m still trying to navigate the forum 🤣

Kind regards

Ryan

The accelerator pump lever is possibly seized or the accelerator pump jet is blocked.
Thank for the reply sparkie! Where do I located the accelerator pump jet to check? Is this the one which you can see squirting or trickling if you remove the elbow from the top of the carb and look down in to the carb? I think I read something a while ago somewhere but can’t find the post again.

Yes, the bent brass finger, pointing down the venturi. It should squirt, never dribble.

Undo the 6 screws that hold the top of the carb on, lift that off. Then pull the jet straight up. Squirt acetone through it, from the bottom. If that doesn't work, then soak it in concrete acid for a short time till the outside starts to clean up. Then rinse and repeat. It should spray a solid single stream from its nozzle end.
