Car running rich .

Hi my car is running really rich at the mo to the point It's coming out my exsaust According to my m8 that was behind me and noticed.

What's the best action to take ? . Can you turn fuleing down any way that will work or should the injectors be dealing with over fuleing.

What could it be . Cheers

i take its smelly lol

it needs to be put on a scanner etc to have a butchers at the live data, coolant temp sensor reading, lambda reading etc etc

When I give it some the unspent fule is dripping out exsaust? "Quite a lot to" . And car stinks of petrol just thort it was normal a nice thirsty car lovein the juice! But something is wrong it's far to much .

Na it's stinks of petrol m8 . I have decat to will that be reason . It's defo over fuling Just need to know if there is simple fix before I got for dinostics.

CTS, on the thermostat housing, white square plug, probably rotted away inside, check the resistance.

lambda is in the downpipe just before the cat

It could still be condensation even smelling of petrol, i get it on mine a bit. And its straight through. Sometimes the soot mixes with it & its like it spits its venom at other cars

Mine was still doing that after changing everything, earths, CTS, Lambda...

I found out the route cause of it 3 days ago, a bad connection on the IAT sensor (inlet air temprature sensor) located on the left hand side of the inlet manifold. About £7 to replace but check all the clips that plug onto your sensors first. Was getting 17 to the gallon, now getting an estimate 400 miles to a tank. Just an idea.

Good luck with getting it sorted mate, keep us all updated. (y)

That's similar to this . It throwing out flames any chance it gets . Changing from 1st to 2nd at high rpm " every time " . And even in 3rd if a take foot off pedal and put it back on back fires and flame . So must be a lot of petrol in system .

Cheers for that m8 al try replace that first then befor cts - lam ?

Most sensors on the engine are between £7-10. If you do have a spare few quid lying about it's maybe worth just changing them (CTS, IAT) together if they are old or you have no idea when they were last replaced. As I've found out these are the main sensors that give your ECU the correct information for fueling along with the Lambda. If any of these sensors are faulty and giving off a reading they shouldn't be then it'll throw everything else off. My new lambda was only about £27 from GSF and that came with the correct plug to connect straight on to my 19 not one of these where you have to cut and join wires. (y)

What sort of MPG are you getting at the moment? When running properly and giving it abit of stick now and then I am getting 45-50 to £10 and I got 185 to half tank a day ago (£40) (combined driving). Just to give you an idea. Might give you a clue if there is a fault somewhere.
