Can anyone help with R5 GTT valuation?

So long story short i know of a R5GTT for sale.

Its an F Plate in Tungsten Grey. Has 96k on the clock and has a 12 month mot. Has a bit of rot around the front screen and rear hatch.

Body work is ok, few car park dents etc

Anyone car to share how much i should be paying for it?

Don’t sound like nothing special... price up all the good parts... that’s what it’s worth... will be more rust than you realise, replacing what you have mentioned will need a full repaint...

So unless you can do the work yourself, or don’t mind a long term project/money Pitt... I wouldn’t pay out more than I could brake it for...

For me the expensive bit is the bodywork. Its a pain to get right. See some of the threads on here.

Bar the spraying the rest I can take care of or have someone whom can help at very good rates.

I know its going to be rusty underneath as so many turn out to be but its difficult to know what to offer for the car as it stands.

its currently up for 5k but i feel there would be room for negotiation on that

The prices of fives are all over, and at a all time high.

5k for me would be too steep, even if you can get mates rates for the fab work its still going to cost you a fair bit.

Thank you guys for the input greatly appricated.

As you say @Andy the prices are all over the shop with them atm and its hard to find a good base for a resto project.

Just bide my time until the right one turns up

The problem I have with buying a project of any kind is the unknown costs...

Depending on what you want... but let’s says it’s an Semi OE project, new windscreen surround or repair work would be £200-500?? Rust free boot/repair boot would be £100+, front grill? your looking at a full respray (£1500-3000)?... so far your looking at £2k+ investment... for a car when done is worth £6k-8k (if returned to oe at a good standard)

I would rather pay extra for a car that’s decent and don’t need the work done, it’s different of buying this car for £2-3k, hoping for a cheap quick flip and having a nice car... but could easily get burnt with higher than expected repair bill.

I don’t get why people pay silly money for a project....

Not everyone wants a showroom car though. I enjoyed mine less after a respray worrying about any little mark etc. There is some people that put value in what you are getting which is a quickish car with whatever nostalgia is attached for most people that in this case you can jump in and enjoy. That in itself has a value.
If you solely value a car by taking each pound away that would be needed to restore to mint you might find some members need to pay people to take there car away lol.

This is true, loved my scrap heap Clio, and my old cup 5... pros and cons I suppose....
