Cambelt Service - Is it really worth it?

IMHO

Not doing the servicing properly is like just putting all your cash on red or black as a gamble. !?
It might work out ok but it might work out very badly !!
And in the end you'll pay when/if you sell ! Price will be negotiated down because it hasn't been done.

Just my view

What you must remember too, is the fact the during that 5 year interval, regardless of mileage, the belt is under constant tension from the tensioner/s. As to, as already mentioned, is the idler pulleys that have constant pressure acting on them.

Ours is being changed by Scott and tbh it's worth it. After my Ovlov's cambelt failed (school-boy error) we can't afford another rebuild [smilie=icon_eek.gif]

also in my opinion to do the job PROPERLY the engine has to be dropped, its easier anyway removing the engine! 2hours (ish) and its out

Scott has just done ours and he said he doubts our Eng assy was dropped first time round! Clues were: the water pump was original and many of the bolts/nuts etc had not been disturbed since new! All done properly now though.

2 hours sounds fair. With the Ph1's, Scott chops the main wiring loom and fits quick release plugs, like on the Ph2. That alone will take time!
