C30 D5

I've got the tigra up on here aswell as the Clio. So I thought I'd track my progress on this here also.
My c30 d5. I've wanted one of these for a good 8 years now and vowed when they were cheap enough for me to buy one that I would do.
This one came up at the same time as that Mégane 175 did (I don't want to talk about that car)
So naturally I ignored advice and bought both.
I had to sell 2 cars to get them both.
The seller got a bit pushy with this one and i had to buy it transported unseen. The worst idea in the world. But it was cheap enough to gamble on.
I've not really had the chance to take it apart or play with it as it immediately went into use by my other half. She loved it and claimed it for herself.
So I can't do anything I needed/wanted to do to it.
Then the tigra came along and I have the car back.

For those who don't know these cars, it's basically a focus underneath with a Volvo engine and gearbox. Ford even used the T5 in their own st and these cars got some ford engines aswell. Even got a horrible Peugeot 1.6 engine as an option.
This one however is in my opinion the best of them all. A white manual d5 pre-facelift. Exactly what I wanted!

This came with jaguar wheels. Focus st coilovers. Missing number plate lights. Knocking driveshafts. An air intake. Wheel bearing noise. Green interior lights. Part green brake calipers. black rear windows. And alot of vape products.
Overall not so bad for someone like me.
180bhp. And it blew the Mégane out the water from the get go.

Plans are get it low, economical, quick, and just look good.

Recently the mot ran out and had the airbag light on. Instant mot fail, and it needs vida to be reset. I tried that with a friend but turns out it was an internal error and needed the srs ECU sending off to be fixed. This happened due to the battery dying and dropping voltage. So a new battery was got.
ECU is in the centre console. Got that out and sent off.
Whilst it was out the gearstick cables are looking at me. So I got the short shift in aswell.
While it's off the road I've sent the engine ECU off aswell for a stage 1 map.
Ford had their hand in this one and put the ECU in a box under the passenger side arch (where the damage is) so the box is smashed aswell.

With stage 1 I asked for the egr and dpf to be removed from software. So of course the exhaust work starts
Back box removed and witches hair taken out

Now I've got to get the cat and dpf off. And remove their innards.
Then I can get it motd, test out the mods, and hand the car over to my wife and take the tigra apart.
Cheers

Short shift bit installed

Feels good in the cabin. Not moved it anywhere but into the garage so yet to feel it in action.

And the backbox rewelded up with some horiffic welding. I really need to step up my welding game. And a skim of exhaust paste on the welds just to cover the pin holes. Box is only temporary untill I can get another one but this will do for now.
Cheers

Had 5 to lift the front of the car and see what the flanges look like.

Wtf!?
This car is only 14 years old and the exhaust is supposed to be stainless. How the hell has this got so bad. It's like it's been parked in a puddle for 3 years.
I have no idea how I'm going to remove these.
My only option looks like cuting them off. But I need to get the exhaust off first. So it looks like I'll be butchering the pipework and sleeve jointing it back together. Another bodge by me.

No chance of me removing that exhaust stuff. So I cut a hole in the bottom of the dpf. Extracted the black gold and collected it for resale, and welded it back up. Knowing they are not allowed to look like their tampered with I covered it in a heat shield from the 172. If it's covered that should cover me. Not testers are not allowed to remove anything.

Back on its wheels and in "test" use.
Here's a pull with the stage 1 map. Should be sitting at 200-230hp now.
It feels good.

Next step is to get it through and not then I can start on the tigra... Again.
Cheers

Also the dpf missing and the contents of the back box removed have made little to no difference in noise. Which was disappointing. I wanted that d5 roar. So the cat is the noise killer and I'll have to have another attempt at getting that off when it's warmer.
