Brake upgrade R19 1.8 16v chamade phase2

would any of you be able to inform me of any newer renaults that would offer larger diameter discs and better caliper set up for my k-reg 16v chamade.

I want to improve the chassis performance using renault parts where possible without having to lose the abs set up

I have seen this done on other makes of vehicle, but im under the understanding that renault models share similar hub set ups etc, so hope this offers me a good chance of upgrading without need to change to overpriced aftermarket offerings.

If any one has done a similar upgrade or knows if this is a possibility any help would be grately appreciated!?!

Renault 21 Turbo calipers (54mm pistons) and 21Txi discs go on (285mm)

but you need a custom machined adapter anyway so you might as well choose the brakes you want and get an adapter made.

or the better way is the way I go, new models 285 conversion.

involves using different struts and hubs though but easy to get.

does yours have the ABS right now? The practice with 19's is to get the ABS out of there before it tries to kill you, One of my 19s is outside right now with abs failure and it is quite common on the 19, hence the name 'the widowmaker'

Prob worth having a look on the brake fluid bottle see what name is there, my J reg one has the dreaded ABS failure, oddly my other J reg is identical except it's got no ABS

Now trying to make a copy of the brake kit from K-tecracing K-Tec Racing - Renault Tuning & Styling Specialists ... brake disc R21TXi 285, shorter brackets brake calipers for the chilled blade 238 and adapter of its own production. Electro-hydraulic system Bendix ABS I have dismantled 2 years ago and mounted a vacuum system without ABS. Now car brakes much better.

This looks like a very nice install!
so you also reckomend getting rid of the abs, i must personaly say im a little hesitant on removing this system but begining to believe this may be the way forward! Was it a complex way of doing things or pretty straight forward?

Thanks for the pics and response!

Dismantling took me about 4 hours, pull the wiring is simple, it is worse with a hydraulic system ... I do not know how difficult it is dismantling the car on the RH steering. I have the steering wheel to the left;)

just to inform you my car is running what seems to be a Bendix setup as this is writen on resivoir and what i believe to by the abs control unit!
