Hey,

Recently saw a link to a group buy for RS tuning started by TurboRenault so thought it rude not to join in!

Where to start, recent history of cars? Are you sitting comfortably?

I had a Focus ST, which was great in a straight line, sounded incredible but was a little chavvy in orange. Then on Christmas morning a drunk driver drove in to it and disappeared in to the night. I did find them and insurance paid out.

7 months later and it was repaired and I wanted rid. My missus had an Audi A1 and I fancied a bit more luxury.

Enter Audi TT TSI Quattro.

Then one day it just wouldn't start, checked if I had a spark and fuel etc but nothing dead. Had it taken to a local engine rebuilder who informed me that the oil pump had seized (full service, one owner 40k miles?) so it was pretty FUBAR'd.

After I had it repaired I wanted rid, I'd lost all faith in it.

At this point I didn't know what I wanted, I didn't want anything VAG, I test drove an S2000 and a 350z. After a chat with a mate he mentioned a Megane RS250, I watched and read all the reviews and decided it was to be a Megane.

Enter my Megane RS250.....

I was pretty happy with the Megane and I was in no rush to do anything apart from the headlights, the chrome inserts just let the Megane down imho. So I had the headlights split and sprayed the inserts black.

I was happy.

Then I wanted it lower, to sound better and to sit lower.

Went for a drive out to test the FMIC, pulls great, very happy.

I convinced myself that the rear shocks were failing and that the fronts wouldn't be far behind so I bought some blistien b14 coilovers. Now I could have gone for nitrons but I had a wedding and a honeymoon to fork out for....

Talk about bad luck with cars !

Your going to have a well sorted , rapid motor there mate.
 
These were much needed as my standard shocks were dead.

Before I fitted them I had a track day booked at combe. Not ideal with knackered rear shocks but worse than that was the conditions on the day. It poured down all day and the Federals were just not up to the job. Never the less I had a good day.

Then I saw some Recaro Sportsters for sale, they come up few and far between so grabbed them whilst I could for a great price albeit a 8 hour drive.

Pretty easy to fit, bar one rounded torx bolt. Transformed the feel of the car.
 
Cambelt, waterpump and thermostat.

Left my house at 6am to get there when they opened. What a mission to get to, over a 70p toll bridge in Bath. Lots of 20mph zones, countless speed cameras and variable limit zones. But all that saw a healthy 38mpg. Got there at 8:30am, as they were opening up I had a nose around the cars for sale, the white track prept 250 looks a hand full. Few members of staff came to see a Blue Megane RS250 as many hadn't seen one. Greeted at Ktec by the guy behind the counter who gave me directions to Bournemouth and the keys to the courtesy car, a 15 plate Clio 1.2 my god. Comfy Clio but anything over 50mph was a struggle. After a rainy day out returned to Ktec and picked up my Megane after having the Belts, pump and stat done. I had the stat done at the same time as it seems a few Meganes around the same age are having thermostat issues.
Very good service at Ktec and would/will use them again in the future.

That just about brings me upto date.

About 4 weeks ago I had the car roaring roaded. It pulled a disappoint 285bhp with a map and my hardware mods. So I started looking for a new map and I read RS tuning were the boys to go to.
So after my wedding 3 weeks ago and my honeymoon I am currently sat at RS tunning waiting to have my car mapped.

Sorry for the long post.
 
All that took over a year. Good to look back sometimes, realise what you've done. Probably missed loads.

I don't want to mention who mapped it. Not worth the hassle.
Ok , no worries. Hope you get what you want from this one !
 
321BHP and 335ibft as a guess after mapping

So went there with 285bhp and left with (drumroll please....)

307bhp. Not the magic 320bhp I wanted but that's life. Also 20ftlbs torque more too.

The RST map is so much smoother and pulls right through the rev range. Bottom end and top end are most noticeable.

Highly recommend RS tuning knowledge guys.

I had a disappointing estimate there. I guessed within 2bhp of the Meg RS2 lads :(
