Boot Lock Mechanism

Thought I would post on failed boot lock mechanism as this will inevitably happen to someone else.

Simple one to fix, part number for the boot lock mechanism is 8200060917 and cost c. £39 plus VAT. Fitting is straightforward so anyone able to wield a screwdriver should decline the offer from Renault to do it for you (0.6 hours labour).

I appreciate this is a majorly old thread to be bumping but has anyone else had a failure of the boot locking mechanism?



Presumably this is what Iain is referring to in his post, for the part number anyway.

I rolled the Clio out the garage today. The house boiler needs serviced and I don't want the boy using the Clio roof as a toolbox stand :rollseyes:

After getting it out I locked it subconsciously, after a moment I went to check by popping the boot. It opened, and the alarm sounded. Weird!
The doors still lock with the key fob but I guess the boot lock has died of old age. Will drop into Renault on my way home tommorow and see what they say

It’s the solenoid in the boot lock.

You can buy just the part of eBay for about tenner and very easy to fit.

I wouldn’t let Renault change it as they will charge the earth for something that can be repaired very easily.

Replaced my boot solenoid today. Got the replacement part from eBay for about £10 delivered. Thanks mossy!

Took me only 10-15 mins to do. The only tool required is Torx T20. Pulling the boot plastic trim took the longest of the whole task because I didn’t want to deform it or break any clips.
