Bonnet release catch

G

Guest

Hi guys, got a problem with the bonnet release catch on my Maxim :(
Pull the catch under the steering wheel but nothing, there' s no pressure when i'm pulling it either which makes me think something's come loose?
Any ideas?

Have you checked the cable? It may have snapped somewhere. Question is, can you open the bonnet?

sounds like the cable has either snapped or broken the clip on the lever under the steering wheel, just remove that bottom bit of dash (few T20 screws IIRC) and check to see if the cable is even connected :)

if you can get your grill out pop off the two sir clips an pop them off the pins an you should be able to lift up the bonnet enough to pop it at the lock by hand .

or get it on ramps and just put your arm up past the downpipe ;)

That's a long way...

Sounds like the cable HAS snapped or come off...

does the cable go thro with the headlight adjustment cables? if youre lucky it will have come off inside so you can get to pull it with pliers

If you can get your grille off you can undo the bonnet bolts from underneath to lift the front of the bonnet up slightly.

Then you can probably reach underneath and undo the catch, the replace cable if necessary.
