Hi,

I have tryed removing my bonnet but two out of four bolts that hold the bonnet in places has snapped.. now i dont want to try the other ones since i'm 99% sure they will snap to..
how can this be fixed if i remove the bonnet and the two remaining bolts snap also?

any help greatly appriciated

new hinges mate as bolts are fixed to them.

No they aren't?

The 'bolts' or the threaded part is attached to the bonnet.

The hinges just have holes in for the bolts to pass through and secured by nuts on the other side, IIRC.

well this sounds more like how it looks :)
but how are they attached to the bonnet? welded?
anyone that knows for sure how it is, have seen alot of pics with bonnet removed on here ;)

Probably welded, no idea to be honest.

Have seen some bonnets with the studs re-welded back on after they had snapped off though.

Or perhaps you could just snap them all off and replace them with a larger bolt (13mm?), make the holes in the bracket larger and use 13mm nuts, should take a little bit more force to snap those off.

iirc they are welded into the bonnet behind a strengthening plate on the bonnet itself..needs to be removed and the studs replaced.

think northy has done this i'll ask him.

would i need to cut the strengthening plate then also and weld back together?

you can just get a stud welder and it will put them back on

aah got it now.. allmost anyways :)

thanks alot for the tips.. will look into this since it would be great if i could remove the bonnet and still be able to put it back on ;)
