Megane Black Megane 225

Hi everyone.

Just got myself a lovely black standard Megane.
Its the newest car ive ever owned and it feels it, lovely and tight, and civilised, I will have to change that.

Previously ive had 2 campusi (I dont know the pleural) and 2 gt turbos. One of which I put a TD04 on, so subsequently I cut my teeth on rebuilding c1j's
Moved onto the b18ft, which I put in my blue campus, its still around up north somewhere but its been ruined in my opinion with styling.

The only non standard part at the moment is the radio (and subsequent holes in the parcel shelf)
It looks good in the photos but needs a good detailing, ill be getting your very own scratcher on the case.

It needs a strut top mount and its all good again.
The exhaust will be reworked. Centre box to come out, possibly de-cat and or back box delete, depends on how loud im allowed the car (my neighbours don't like me much) and a remap to finish it off.

And normally ill run cars dick head low, but I quite like the handling of this one, and spring recommendations to lose that arch gap?

Will also have to start a thread on a lovely standard little clio ive aquired, but at the minute its locked in a garage behind a dead clio, and a clio getting a c1j transplant haha.

Cheers
Mark

Nice to see another black meg! :D

Cooksports are a good spring along with the addition of R26 shocks, My 225 is sat on these:

It handles alot better than on the old suspension and is still kinda comfy :)

Looks like a nice clean car. I have an R26 and fitted the Cooksport springs and can really recommend them. A bit lower but still with clearance for speed bumps, etc and retain the handling of the Meg.

Ok, I was about to order some cooksport springs when I found PI springs, lower drop and £100 less. Anyone used these?
Also there are Direnza springs, H & R and Eibach for cheaper than cooksport. Are they really worth the extra?

Sod it, ordered cooksport!
If everyone else says they're good, they must be :D I just hope they are low enough for my taste, if not a coil may need to come off.

well id rather not cut new springs. it would be off the originals if thats needed.
coilovers are to pricey for me at the minute.
hope to make some progress on the exhaust this weekend. centre box out first

Middle box out.

And welded in place just before the mount.
Sound wise, its annoyingly similar to how it was before, it does seem to boost stronger, and the turbo can be heard spooling better, but I dont think im getting these pops and bangs like everybody else is.
I have also bought a standard system, ready to do a back box chop. I want it swappable so I will weld in a clamp on both standard box and straight pipe leaving the mount in place.

After seeing this Monday night, I want an RS Megane so much.
It sounds incredible too :) I can't wait to get it in the workshop and bring the flake out in the paint.

Cheers Jamesy.
Its nice, but its no raw renault 5.
I need to get on with the clio to have the feel back.

On the list this weekend:
Weld clio exhaust and have a go at the sill to get it through an MOT
Replace the backbox on the megane as I need to reduce the noise :(
Hopefully get the springs and top mounts on
Weld neighbours exhaust. We will see how i get on.

Been a while.
Got the cooksports on. what a chore the front shocks are! i hope i never have to touch them again. also got the new topmounts on at the same time. and new droplinks.
Ride is firmer. not much lower but im happy to leave it at the height it is.
So i gave it a wash today after weeks of neglect.

Couple of shiny renaults.
Also the clio passed the mot.

Theyre shiny. But not perfect. The megane is going for a trip to scratcher before the year is up to really make it shine :)
