Hi all , i have a problem with the battery draning overnight when the alarm is activated , but if the car is left unlocked it is ok .The battery is new . Any thoughts ? sorry if this has been asked before . Regards marc

Hi Danny , thanks for the reply , i have a c-tek charger . the problem is that from full charge in the battery it will go flat overnight if the car is locked , but if i leave the car unlocked the battery is fine the next morning . regards marc

Not heard of this problem before. If no-one has an answer for you today, try Scot at SG Motorsport tomorrow. Our resident v6 guru.

Thanks Williams , im taking the car to scott this saturday for a service and some recaros ,so hope he can fix the problem .

For putting the battery on trickle charge is there a connection in the car I can access rather than having to remove the front boot liner to get to the battery? Or do I have to make up some fly leads?

Trevor.

Ctek offer a cigarette connector for there chargers BUT it didn't work on my vee!!!!!!! Seemed to power up the top dash ( radio display ) and ended up draining the battery

Hi Chris , can you let me know how to lock the car and deactivate the alarm . i have tried locking the car via the passenger side with the key but it only seems to lock that door and not the drivers side . Think you are on the right track though as the alarm does chirp slightly at random . As you can see i am a newbie numpty . Regards marc

You can with one door still open hit the lock button in the car and then close the door (Remember your keys )

The car will be locked and the alarm will not arm.

Don't be fella, It's a strange setup, They have motors in all doors but no switch gear at the barrels to trigger it........

I'm having to do this until i find time to fit a new alarm.

My battery also only lasted days until i found 2 alarms and 3 trackers ( all still live ) in the car.

I've cut everything out now and it's back to normal.

Hi Sean , it is all locked up minus the alarm , so time will tell hey . wish i knew how to lock the car without the alarm sunday as i took nipper to the little thief for breakfast . parked her as close as poss but had to crook me neck to see her ( still bloody hurting today )

Cheers sean , just tried starting the car today without the alarm activated overnight and had no probs starting at all . Can you tell me where the alarm is situated so i can use my trusty general hitting tool on it . Thanks again . Regards marc

If it's anything like the standard alarms of that era (The Phase 1 had a different system) then it will be in two parts, The " Brain" will be located under the passenger air bag.

The Siren will be located under the plastic cowl underneath the wiper arms at the passengers side, Now the usual problem with Clio alarms was that this area had a drain hole that blocked up and water soaked into the siren and caused all sorts of problems.

If i was you i'd see if this could be disconnected and then tested again, The alarm functions will all still work but there will be no noise when triggered......... All that unit is a siren and the back up battery that it needed to qualify as a Cat 2-1 alarm.

It is feed a constant live to top up this battery, But if it starts going green with moisture then it can drag the main vehicle battery down with it.

Hope this makes sense....

Thanks Sean , i will have a looky see at the weekend , well thats if i can stop looking at the recaros that scott is fitting saturday . regards marc

If you turn the key in the ignition 3 times in succession (not so the engine starts though) shut your door, when you then lock it you should hear the alarm beep 3 or 4 times then the alarm is de activated, thats how i do it.
