Just got back from Dastek. I took the car there for the rolling road. I wanted to know how much it was developing as I suspected my car had been superchipped (I found a customer key in the glove box a month after I bought the car ).

Anyways I'm pretty happy with the results. Its not doing 230bhp but 224.6 will do, but I always suspected that it wouldn't (have read comments elsewhere about this). If you go to superchips.co.uk they have similiar results. Go here and you will see they are similar graphs.

They said the was fueling fine and it was running good. I'm quite surprised I have a superchip as the guy I bought the car off didn't bother to tell me.

Anyways there will be a unichip available for the V6 in about a month. Don't know if I'll bother to get it yet though (just had a major service, cambelt included so I'm extremely skint ).

Have I read the above correctly?

Your car has been chipped and is now producing 224.6 bhp ?

Sorry, no, it was chipped before I got the car.

do you think we could sort out a group day to dastek and get a discount if we all get them fitted, could probs do 5 or 6 in a day i reckon...

id be interested!

When I asked how much the UNI chip was he said £370+VAT, just to let you know. Ready in a months time.

reckon we could get em for £300ish if 4 or 5 of us went there??

a mate got his on a 172 there..and the car did 91..yes 91 mines on the RR!!

so these are at the wheels figures, right? The original spec was 230bhp at the flywheel. So what has your chip added? 50? 70 BHP? Does anyone know the loss between flywheel and wheels?

Book figure is 230bhp at the fly but I've seen a few charts, including my own, and I've never seen a standard Mk1 get near that. 215-225bhp is the usual range. Chips might add 8-10bhp plus similar torque at best. Should improve throttle response significantly too.

if we get a couple more we can perhaps enquire and sort a deal out :)

I doubt I can afford at the moment, so I'll have to be off the list for the moment.

Excuse my ignorance, but what gains (power and torque) would you be looking at for a mk2 v6 chipped? Approx +10bhp & +10lb/ft? Doesn't seem like much (4%). WIll that be noticeable?

If its a noticeable power hike then i'm HUGELY templeted for £300(ish). You can never have too much power! 8)

Peter :D

10 bhp / Torque on the dragstrip might manage a 10th of a second,.............if you're lucky! You do notice a little difference on the road, largely due to the improved throttle response. You won't be suddenly dropping all the cars you used to be evenly matched with.

Do you really want to add a Unichip?? The only reason to do so would be if you had been modifying the car and wanted to make sure that the fueling remained correct. Adding a Unichip to a standard car makes no sense to me - Renault probably spent millions of pounds ensuring that the existing ECU was perfect....

The ECU will have a very safe all purpose map that allows for poor fuel, maintenance, driving etc. They have warranty to consider. It is possible to remap and extract a little more from the engine without stressing anything. Some chips (remaps) offer there own warranties.

If Renault had spent 'millions' then the V6 would have been awesome. The development that TWR did offered them the potential for so much more but the car Renault wanted in the end had to sell at a certain price so a lot of the good stuff never made it to production.

I think i'd like to see a before and after RR printout before parting with my money. Any less than approx 10 bhp for the hassle and warranty problems seems to be a bit of a waste. If we get 10+bhp spread across the rev range plus the same extra torque then maybe.

Surely the company would offer before and after info.

I'm pretty sure they will. The only reason I got similar readouts was because I didn't get the chip changed.
