5 GT Turbo B18ft 32mm water temp adaptor

Hi

I had B18ft engine fitted with a wire connected from the engine to the gt turbo dash gauge. It works but as the B18ft people will know the signal is different and reads higher temp than actually is. I need an accurate reading. What about a 32mm water temp adaptor to put on the radiator hose to put a gt sensor in. A friend advised this. Anyone have a link to one or an alternative suggestion. It's nerve racking enough without thinking the car is constantly boiling!!

From memory the b18 runs a bit hotter than the c1j so will naturally be higher so might be around the 2/3 mark on the gtt gauge with the correct sender fitted.

So maybe better wiring an aftermarket gauge is to for good measure.. Any recommendations on how add extra gauge with electrics on B18ft? Or a suitable gauge to buy?

Thanks :af:

You just need a decent aftermarket water temp gauge with sensor, then you can tie the temp sensor in to pretty much any hose with a T-adaptor, most sensors are 1/8bsp (non US) or 1/8npt (US). You wont know which you need until you buy a temp gauge kit and decide which position to put it in to. Don't put it in the rad top or bottom hose because thats affected by the 'stat position. You want your fan switch controlled by the temp of the water in the bottom rad hose/rad outlet but you need to read coolant temp from the cylinder head ideally.
