Anyone purchased a K-Tec back box lately?

Just wondered what they now look like as have spoken to Dave at K-Tec and he says they’ve changed slightly. Couple more clamps etc etc.

If anyone has can you post up a pic and what do you think of it?

Hi, should be receiving a K-tec backbox on friday/monday. Will sort out some pics for you if i can figure out how. In the meantime, there was a thread with some pics a while back, i'll see if i can find it.

Miguel, pic's would be great. i know they made a new style and then stopped production of it.

My OMG is coming off!!!!! Can't go back to that rusty thing Reno fitted. My OMG just looks so dam good though.

Hi chaps, sorry for the wait. I received the box yesterday, initially not impressed at all with the standard of packaging, especially when i was told it would be wrapped really well. Upon delivery i could actually hear the sound of clashing metal as the delivery guy dug it out of his van.

The quality of welding is good on the whole although there are blobs of weld spatter here and there. Worst of all is the fact that there are scratches in a lot of places, clearly made during manufacture, i just hope they are barely noticeable once fitted.

Maybe i am expecting too much, this is the first backbox i have ever purchased so i have nothing to guage this on. In my line of work we produce a lot of stainless steel products so i know when spatter and scratches can be avoided, but to be honest i expect it will be covered in more once its fitted anyway. I will take some pics today, anyone know a link for how to post them on here?

Couple of pics for you at last:

Is that welding spatter on the end section nearest too us ? That doesn't look ideal but generally the exhaust and curving does look bling ;-)

Martin

As i mentioned, there is some weld spatter, but actually most of what you can see there is a white powder residue presumably from where parts have been polished.

It does look rather tasty though..cant wait to hear your review on the sound as I used to have the original k-tec one and it sounded lovely!

just noticed your mk2 has a very cool build number...255 [smilie=cool.gif]

One of the guys at K-tec told me the exhausts are actually made by Janspeed, however the box was printed with a 'tiger exhausts' logo, confusing...

Just gonna visit a garage to arrange fitting it ASAP, will get some more pics posted as soon as its done.

Yeah i bought one, i really like it.It looks the same as the older version as far as im aware, but now comes with improved sound and more free flowing than before, as you say it has adjusting clamps so you can line the tail pipes up bang on center.

This is the new k-tec box,it looks the similar to the old one ,but it is adjustable and sounds a whole lot better,i had an old type one as well one time and it sounded almost like the stock box.I also bought a quicksilver and the photos that were posted on here by some of the guys that recieved them just after they started to make them look better then than the one they sent me off the production line.the quality of the k-tec is very good.To be honest once they are on a fortnight and have gotten heated up, they will all look the same anyway.

Well, my OMG is off the car and boxed up :( . My new K-Tec box should be with me by monday :D . From looking at the pic's it's rather a nice box.

What happened with the QS OMG? Was it just too loud? :(

Is the OMG up for sale mate??

do k-tec keep these in stock??

im starting to get a lot of ideas for my car..which I always said id keep OEM lol

Not a good day, my new back box is damaged beyond repair so wont be with sent out. But they do have a QS Sport, don't know if i should go down that road after the OMG.

My new box from K-tec took about 3-4 weeks for delivery as it had to be made, wouldn't surprise me if they made a few extra for stock as it would make sense if they had jigs set up etc.

If i can get away from work early tomorrow, i will have it fitted late afternoon so i will post a full report on saturday, unfortunately i have never seen another v6 exhaust system to compare it with (except the original of course).

I'll also upload some video ASAP to my photobucket account, then i might have a go at posting it on youtube unless anyone can suggest a better way?

Got to say, the quality of the QS is exceptional...
Looks and Sounds - it's a winner.

The sound in the cabin is obtrusive, hence I've been tempted to switch to the k-tec option. Got to say that, given time, the drone becomes endearing - and now I wouldn't have it any other way.
