Anyone know a good body shop

Could anyone help please.

My son had an accident in his Cleo V6 when a tyre burst. The garage is estimating the damage between 10000 - 12000 pounds. The car needs a new drivers door, front wing, front valance under the bumper, drivers side sill and some jig work because it went sideways into a post and pushed the sill in under the drivers door about three inches. What we have been quoted seems a bit excessive and will cause the car to be written off despite only being two years old. Could anyone put me in toouch with a good body shop in the South of England, we live near Bognor Regis. If there are none down this way we could probably travel with the car on a flatbed. Any help would be great.

Thanks

Barry :(

to be honest, id let them write it off and go buy another with the cash... you wont be looking at anything below 7k-8k for that damage. Especially if it needs jig work, that has to be done at Renault.

I have just spoken with my son and he says the garage are quoting 13500 not as I thought 10000-12000. It just annoys me that they will probably do it up after buying it off the insurance company and sell it on. How they can say that the damage is nearly as much as the car is worth I don't know. The thigs only two years old with 8K on he clock.
My son said that when they picked the car up the mechanice were more than interested in it. I may get a couple more quotes yet and if not do as you say and let it go.

Thanks

Barry ... one trouble is that replacement body parts are extremely expensive on a Vee. I don't know the cost of the things like a door ... but can extrapolate from the fact that a single air intake scoop (unpainted) is around £500!! Hence, and unfortunately, Vees get written off as uneconomical to repair all the time, often with less severe damage that your son's (ie. without the need to jig ... just on panel damage alone).

Only way to repair them cheaply is to get the parts off other Vees which have been trashed and broken (rare), or by getting panel copies which have far worse quality.

V6 = pocket sized supercar ... and whilst its running costs are very reasonable ... Renault ream us all on parts :(.

I've just edited a couple of threads together so we can keep everything in one place

Reckon the key question from Barry now is ...

I know of good body shops but it will not help you dus to the high price of the parts.

Also as they are good they are alwways full of work, the other problem could be the delivery of these parts and they do not like cars hanging about.
