Anyone been over to Skye

Had a wee search there but no posts in the last few years about Skye.

It might be withdrawal symptoms from the vee being off the road but I've got a real urge to go over to the Isle of Skye this year :race: Has anyone been over there and can advise on the road conditions?

Just wondering as if the roads are full of holes I'd take the BM and leave the vee at home. Cant afford to end up replacing another set of springs for next years mot [smilie=icon_eek.gif]

Roads are fine over there. To be honest, most of them are great on the west and north/west of scotland in my opinion.

Never been but done Isle of Arran on the push bike would love to have had the V6.

Make sure you either go on first or last to the ferry and they ramps or wood out. Not much clearance

Easier to use the bridge over to Skye, roads are pretty good :approve:

Spent several brilliant holidays on the west coast of Scotland, in all manner of rear wheel drive wonders. Skye is fun an the roads are in reasonable condition, however they tend to be spoilt by campervan, tourist pointing at waterfalls, mountains and rocks! Then finally the road ahead clears and you point the car at the apex of some wonderful looking sweeper just as the local wildlife wanders onto the racing line, with three lambs in-toe! If you real fancy some amazing quiet roads have a think about heading "south"- over to the west coat, Fort William -Oban-Tarbert- then half way down the mull of Kintyre- over to Arran for a few laps- back to the Mull of Kintyre Down one side and back up the other or over to Ardrossan and into Galloway - a real hidden gem of wicked roads, one 25 mile section was so good we turned around and had a re-run. Oh and you'll still get the shocks through the MOT, although the West coast of Arran might have you airborne, but the landings pretty smooth. Which ever you pick, have fun! :race:

Never been over with the vee. But the majority of the roads are absolutely fine.

Be sure to visit the Three Chimneys.
