Any advice on new shocks?

I bought my KW's from Larkspeed for £1450 ............which seems to be the lowest price I could find/haggle.

Demon Tweeks would match the price but not beat it - both had zero stock and you'll have to order and wait for delivery.

In the end Richard (Larkspeed) was the route I went with as they were selling at this price from the off...........Demon Tweeks wanting around £1760 (If I remember).

I'm expecting my delivered mid-March.

Hope this might help a little if you're going to take the plunge :s

I think you made the right decision on who to buy from ... personally I am less likely to buy from companies who overprice and simply offer 'price match'. It capitalises on those companies who research the market and offer the more competitive pricing - it's just lazy. Insurance companies are the worst of course !

Ironically with my commercial head on I agree 'price matching' is a necessary business practice though. The other thing I notice more and more is the obvious price fixing which occurs for all sorts of products, then it just becomes a lottery as to who to buy from unless it's easy to find the most reputable seller.

I want KW's, the moneys sitting in the bank after months of saving...

...Just cant get my head round clicking the buy button for the best part of £1500 for around 1000 miles per year...

AARRGGHHH lol

£1.50 a mile Colin [smilie=icon_eek.gif] Buy them, but use the car more; cost per mile comes down.

Man Maths session complete :)

Hi Colin,

If it make you feel any better - I bought my car back in December, drove it home 275 miles and haven't used it since- still didn't stop me ordering the KW's :)

However, the upside is I'm finding the Clio one of the most economic cars to date :tumble:

Mate my hand hovered over that buy button so many times....i felt guilty after I had as well but I kept thinking about them all the time so I knew it was the right choice! If you can afford it do it :race:

I bought mine after a drifting moment with my phase1, 4 years ago for about 1150 so they've obviously gone up in price!

Best mod in my opinion with a mk2 gearbox upgrade

Previous suspension felt too floaty like a barge whereas the kws you can really feel what's going on with steering and chassis beneath

Settings wise is key - I wound mine down a click from standard because of bumpy roads here in Hong Kong - too stiff and you'll find yourself going slower cos of bouncing around

To date I've yet to unstick the vee and that's included high speed cornering chasing down a TT Quattro even hitting a bump mid corner the vee twitched but didn't spin

Seem to do some ridiculous wet weather speeds to the point makes other cars seem there stood still !

That said I wonder now with such high limits of grip does it dial out some fun in the car plus if I did to over the kws limits id be in for big trouble!

A mate of mine does a lot of time trials and track days and swears by bc coilovers BR series. I told him I was thinking about Kw but he said save your money. Don't shoot the messenger just his advice... [smilie=icon_eek.gif]

That will be music to Taipan's ears as that's what he has plumped for. I think the messenger deserves a banquet...... and then shoot him for letting the secret out of the bag

Remember we are only here once.

Nigel.

It's not really fair (or accurate) to comment unless I've tried a car with KWs and a car with BCs, but looking at the prices KWs seem to be around £1.5k where as I picked up my BCs for less than £700; KWs more than twice as good? I really don't think so personally. That was my logic anyway. It's also good to support a new manufacturer willing to provide upgrades that surely must sell in minuscule quantities.

Both are great bits of kit and both represent a necessary upgrade over OEM if you'd like to find the inner drivers car languishing under the surface.

I'll report back on mine once I've had them set up properly. I hoping for good things.

I was totally unsure what suspension to go for.............very little knowledge on V6

So I made a calculated call and rang Scott at SG Motorsport for his advise - that's the only reason I went down the KW route.

I'm sure I'd never have noticed the difference between KW's, Leda or BC's............however the quality/material of KW's does seem to be why you're paying the extra.

Only time will tell :s
