Annoying low revs rattle

Dan

Member
I have a rattle at low revs, when accelerating around 1,700 rpm I get a metallic rattle from the rear somewhere, which goes away by jabout 2,000rpm. Pretty fast rattle and pretty loud sometimes too. Exhaust hitting something? Rattling heatshield? It seems to do it in any gear, although it's harder to hear in the higher gears for the wind noise and stuff.

Cheers for any help or advice :) Car drives spot on, no clutch slip, no crunchy gears etc. I could just live with it, but I think you can hear it from outside, and its right at that 'cruising around town' point in the revs hehe.

Matt did change the exhaust over from the OMG just before I bought it, and I'm sure I didn't hear it when the OMG was on heh. Of course I didn't hear much except the OMG :D Hence me thinking the exhaust might just be a little close to something now, maybe slightly misaligned?

are you runing it on normal unleaded as i found my vee ran like a bag of spanners on it shell v max all the time now

Probably only something simple like a clamp loose somewhere :D

Take the engine covers off and get someone too start the car up and rev it, and you may pinpoint it :approve:
