Alternatives to the insulating foam under engine covers?

The insulating foam underneath the engine covers of my vee have rotted, disintegrated and is creating a mouldy smell when the engine gets nice and warm.

Just wonder is there an alternative foam instead of getting ones from Renault? I guess the foams at their warehouse would have also sat of the shelf for quite some time too. The foams should be quite special cos I noted they were layered and could sustain high heat from the engine.

I am talking about part No. 10 (60 20 011 079/60 20 011 502) and part No. 11 (60 20 011 080/60 20 011 503), I actually can't distinguish which part numbers is for the Ph1 vee.

I would replace with EPDM sheet or Dynamat non adhesive sheet. I believe both have good sound and heat insulation properties.

Will look at the difference between EPDM foam sheets and dynamat. Need something that doesn't compress when at 60-70 deg C and won't give off vapor smell.

I know dynamat is used heavily by the ICE guys for sound deadening.
