Alpine GTA V6

As I'm sure many of you have seen , there is a red GTA for sale on Pistonheads. Sorry , still can't do the link jobbie! Would be very much obliged if someone could do it for me ... :tumble:

It has been on for a while now and for some reason it is in the ClioV6 section as opposed to the Alpine section.

I think this car , as long as it is what the seller says it is , a true bargain ...

Owned for 10 years , super low mileage for a GTA , lovely colour , some history , all original and appears to be a genuine sale from a wealthy owner . (Wouldn't be hard to track down any missing service history in duplicate ... regularly the case with cars like these ... and normally no charge whatsoever ! Original Dealers have even given me complimentary original dealer number plates for cars like these !)

OK , it has no MOT but I assume it runs and drives ... Subject to mechanical condition , along with classic insurance and a pre-booked MOT test , you can even drive it home !

It does appear to be all original and although considered an oddball , back in the day , this car was the "Daddy". I remember buying my 6th and final R5 GT Turbo , brand new , and my neighbour bought one of these GTA's brand new at the same time ! It was literally the difference between a 172 and a V6 in today's terms ! When I drove it , I was astonished at the sound it made and the way it handled (only had FWD cars up until this point in my life) and , had they not made the Clio V6 , I would probably be a GTA owner today !

Priced similarly to an entry-level R5 GT Turbo today , but with no silly mods , and probably no welding , paint , thrashing or head gaskets in it's history and such low mileage , it truly is a bargain .
If you own a V6 Clio / Williams / R5 etc. then how good would this look sat next to them ? ... Shit , even if it doesn't work , it's still worth £2k just to put on the drive , next to the others ! HaHa !

OK , so an R5 is so much cooler and the on-boost acceleration with the limpet like front end grip , is still breath-taking ... even today ! ... but like the ClioV6 , this is a mid-engine Supercar !

If you have a spare couple of grand and somewhere to store it , just as an investment , it should be purchased ... just stick it in a barn for 10 / 20 years and see what it pulls then ! Far better than any of our Bank Portfolios !

I'm no expert on these prices and i'm sure there will be a GTA forum who may have knowledge of the car so do your homework before purchase ... that said , if it is unknown to the GTA folk because it is in the ClioV6 section , I'm sure it will soon get snapped up even just for spare parts (especially at the £2 -£2.5k mark with a good interior, engine and wheels)
I have seen excellent GTA's for sale for £12k+ (a while back) and a good one today will still cost £6k+ ... this particular one does have such low mileage and all original , so the potential is huge !

I would buy it in a heartbeat if had a place to store it ... I've just watched on Ebay , a welded up , re-painted , crashed , catC , re-shelled MK1 Astra GTE sell for considerably more than this !

It is obviously never going to escalate to Turbo2 / V6Trophy prices because of it's looks (they do look far more impressive in real life BTW) but to still get that supercar sound , mid engine and rear wheel drive for just £2 - £3k , it appears to be the bargain of the year !

Even as an alternative track car it would be awesome ... Again , it's not a GTR with 700 BHP for drifting , but it was TRULY designed as a Supercar and once we used to get to those 3 figure speeds , the GTA would leave my R5 GT Turbo for Dead ! You don't necessarily have to look for a super long track , as the handling is sublime ! I'd like to bet that most Ph1 V6 owners could put this car (when on-song) round a good track faster than their own V6 !...

My best track days have easily been in cheaper cars in the novice section and I paid more than this GTA for a stripped-out Mazda MX3 V6 (and what a hoot that was !)

Obviously , if it has been sat unused in the back field for the best part of those 10 years then compensation must be made ...

Take a good tow-truck , Two Thousand pounds in cash and deal only with the seller's wife ...

I really want to like GTAs - but they do look like they've been beaten with an ugly stick. 25 years later - my opinions haven't changed.
It's a real shame because most Alpines are beautiful.

Sadly, I agree with Kett. I want to like them, but just cant get on with the looks.

The Le Mans one looks slightly better, but GTA/A610s are pretty much the only french sports cars I just cant get enthusiastic about.
