Clio Alien Green 200 gets boost

I'm new here.. Names Danny, have owned my ag200 for over 3 years now.
At first I brought the car to sell on, however I fell in love with it and it replaced my ex track Saxo vts.
First mod was panel filter, then carried on modding through to a full Akrapovic evolution exhaust sitting on some b14 coilovers, Ktec black series discs and redstuff pads. Then graphics for the car due to working in the sign/ vehicle wrapping trade.

Me being me I love working on cars and have always done things myself, but due to my Clio being a 2010 plate I wanted to keep the cars history with Renault so I used Renault for my servicing, which is funnily enough the reason this project is happening. My car has been sat at Renault for 200+ days broken due to 3 major engine failures of doing my cambelt for me, anyway timing wasn't the best as my other half was due to give birth and needed a family car. So I went ahead and got a megane225 5 door, this is the part I fell in love with boost, that extra torque making it feel much faster. Anyways back to the build, it's happening as my car was going to be written off due to a new engine from them being worth more than the cars value...

So the car

And how the car sits now next to my 225

So over the next few months il be taking on the megane conversion myself

So here is my donar car, megane f1 230image.webp the engine removal stage from the meganeimage.webp

That's it, engine out and all the parts I wanted were also thrown into it, managed to get some mk2 lights for my megane for the rear light conversion.image.webp

That's it for now, got allot of parts on order and we are still waiting for Renault to agree on a date I can bring my Clio home and get cracking on the conversion.
I will do a much more in depth build thread with much more in depth talk and pics for those wanting to do the build themselfs.

Just waiting on my new exhaust from Pure-Motorsport, paddle clutch from engine dynamics, some silicone hose for the radiator overflow, the car itself and then I can rip the loom off and send the looms out to be mated together and the ecu to be reprogrammed.
Thanks all

Always like the alien green 200's. Whats the score with the timing belt feckup? I hope renault give you some compensation for that

Yes i did get money from Renault and there insurance company for this massive inconvenience and wrecking my car.

First time the new aux belt ripped and pulled into the timing cover and jumped a tooth, no compression all cylinders.

2nd time the replaced all the inlet valves and less than a tank of fuel there become a tapping noise, endiscope discovered broken valves and Pistons had a nice print of valves.

3rd time, new pistons and rods, new head, new inlet and exhaust valves, bottom end and pretty much new engine they built, again 300 miles later a knock appears, followed the guides they give me, didn't even get to abuse the car and turns out a massive bottom end failure wrecking my whole engine,

Renault then decided after all this done under warranty that they couldn't justify £5k for a new engine to put in which was worth more than the car.. Pretty crap really and devistated, but I finally get to do what I wanted to my car I guess

This all looks class mate!

Looking forward to seeing the progress on this for sure.

Absolutely love the AG colour, proper rare RenaultSport colour, only thing I would change about my car is having a limited run RS paint job on it!

There's a really nice Supercharged AG Clio up near me, it always steals the show whenever its about

Cheers, yeah matt's old car who had the conversion done. Met him a few times and he's took me out in it but now a chap called Gav owns it and sure gives the car stick and still getting lots of attention too

Badly fitted, forced belt on causing damage to edge? Possibly.

Sounds like they missed some damage and you had valve/piston contact!

3rd time, new pistons and rods, new head, new inlet and exhaust valves, bottom end and pretty much new engine they built, again 300 miles later a knock appears, followed the guides they give me, didn't even get to abuse the car and turns out a massive bottom end failure wrecking my whole engine,

When a piston hits a valve hard enough it can flat spot the big end/crank. It's not apparent because the engine stops immediately. The lump gets pulled apart and the top end rebuilt, then once its running "sweetly" again the flat spot on the crank starts to pick up and in a short distance, usually a few hundred miles, the oil is full of swarf and it runs the bottom and and wrecks the engine.

That's exactly it DaveL485, we weren't happy with anything they did and we knew that any tap of the piston sends shocks to the crank etc causing more damage but they done it under warranty, we didn't want to argue too much with it at the time to push them away from doing it.

But oh well, here I am better off with a better car in the making

Surprised you havent burned it (and the garage) after that little lot pal!

Quick question;
Can I keep the air con pump and just remove the pipes and put a bolt or cap them off?
I don't want to run air conditioning or the rad for it for cooling purposes on the conversion... Understand pure Motorsport do a fancy bracket but rather not spend that if I don't need to

If you can get hold of it, the 197 CUP A/c bracket should / will do the same job as the PMS kit on the F4RT

I had looked into this a lot for My Megane and discussed it with Rentec - they were the 1st that told me about using a 197 CUP bracket before PMS had the kit....
