Alarm.. Missing?!?!

Just had renault on the phone..they still have my car..thats 2 days now)

The reason for them calling...was the alarm problem, there appears to be no siren on the car..the technition wasnt too sure on the matter as there are no V6's in this area to compare to, but he had rang numberous companies and got the following 3 answers..

1) the V6 doesnt have a siren its just meant to flash :lol: :lol: :lol:
2) The siren should be mounted just under the scuttle panel (ala 172 etc) this is what i agreed with

3) the siren is in the rear under the engine covers :?

Mine has no beep or anything when I lock the car - it just flashes....I can I check that there is actually an audible alarm?

On the standard fit UK alarm which has ultrasonics there are two easy ways of testing the alarm sounder works.

1. Set your alarm, but leave the window open ... just like freekymac's son did at the Goodwood breakfast meet .
2. Unlock your car and open the door immediately ... and I mean less than a second after you've unlocked it. The alarm has a slight disarm delay and so it'll go off, and then a second or two later turn itself off again when it realizes that the car was properly disarmed.
