Air Con Stopped Working

hi all, I know theres loads of posts about this in the forum history, but I just wanted to run this one past you all.

My wife was in the car this weekend (do all car related disasters involve the wife? ;-) Of course the teamperature wasnt melting the interior of the car like it should do if one has a female in present company. I normally have the interior temp very cold. So I wacked the heater controller up to max. Only prob is, when I got in the car this morning, it seems to be stuck on max. Tried switching the ac on/off and increasing/decreasing the heat controller. I can hear the a/c pump or controller clicking on and off but its blasting out warm to hot air.

What else could it be? Im guessing if the ac needs regasasing it wouldnt have such a distinct sudden change in temp? I have to say when the heater was turned up fully at the wknd there was a slight burning/hot smell, but i put this down to the fact that it hadnt been set to max for some time.

Thanks
Dan

The pump is protected with a low pressure switch to prevent it from switching on when there's not enough gas. So most probably plenty gas

just a tip :approve:

when i got home tonight, I took all the fuses out on the passenger door side (that looked to be related to the heater fan) including a main 30 amp fuse, which seemed to reset everything including the radio (now need the code!)

Bizarrely when I got back in the car and started her up, the aircon mysteriously started working!?!

its almost like the heat controller got stuck on max heat.

Does anyone know if the climate control system runs off 1 fuse? Or does the fan, ac, heat setting each have their own fuse?

I recently read of a relay for the air con system. Was a bit too technical for me to grasp the topic though.

Do a search for "relay" see if it helps.

Mine has never worked since i got i, Plugged in Clip and it ran some test and came back with an open circuit,

Now i'm guessing it may be the connection for the clutch down at the compressor.

I've just been looking at pg 81-3 :

http://v6clio.net/manuals/electrical.pdf

interestingly the AC computer is listed on 2 circuits. The fuse for the heated rear window and rear wiper, then it's mentioned again on the heater fan circuit, which makes more sense.

I'll have to check out the relays.
