Air con condenser

That Drier looks like it'll be fine, you can get Behr Hella versions which i believe were the OEM fitment for Renault at the time.

I looked into getting a standard MK 2 Clio pipe but the end fittings on all the pipes i looked at didn't fit.

Let me know if you find one from Mk2 Clio that fits, that would be interesting to know :approve:

Ive bought a standard Mk2 clio pipe with the right PAD fitting for the AC rad, the pipe diameter is much bigger so I have cut the flange off with 30mm of pipe and sleeved the original pipe inside it. I am getting it TIG welded up tomorrow and then its a case of fitting it and seeing if it holds gas....

That’s been a lot of grief for such a small problem, hope it sorts it.

Just for info, if you put the drier into an electric oven at about 120c the silica gel will recover by releasing the moisture and is then back as good as new, standard procedure in power station hydrogen plants where silica gel is used as a desiccant, you can tell when recovered by the change in colour. If you want to test, get one of the little bags that turn up in camera bags etc and you can cycle it ad infinitum :approve: :approve:

Went to get it gassed last night, it failed the vacuum leak test. Now the top AC rad fitting is leaking.....I swear this think is pissing me off now.

The non-OE gaskets from that site are junk!

Hi there. So you managed to weld the pipe it & that has no leaks ? If so good work, it's
very hard to get a 100% sealing from that type of repair.

That's a pain the top condensor fitting is leaking, my oem orange seal that is used on one of the drier fittings was damaged due to the oxidization so i removed the old seal & used five "o" rings that a carefully sized up stacked on top of each other. They fit nice & snug in the new drier port. I had my air con system checked for leaks at 100psi for over 1 hour & there were no leaks at all so those mods worked well. My air con compressor clutch kicks in when it's turned on but the airflow is not cold so i suspect there is a problem inside the actual pump of the compressor but that is a job for another day.
