Agreed Value - Flux or Hagerty (or other)?

Hi All,

My Vee insurance is up for renewal very soon. It's currently insured with Flux with an agreed value which at the time of renewal was less than I wanted (but not too far off), so I'm going to want a significant hike in agreed value this year.

On a slightly different, but related topic, my 944 S2 was insured with Flux, but I've just switched over to Hagerty as they offered me the agreed value that I requested without any questions or hassle. When I phoned Flux a few months ago to try and get my agreed value up'd, the person I spoke to said "if you haven't had any work done to the car, then we won't be able to increase the agreed value of the vehicle"... Obviously this is ridiculous, as by that means they are not taking market demands and conditions into consideration.

My question is, (to those who use Hagerty or Flux, or perhaps others), have you been able to get the agreed value that you actually asked for (or near enough) upon renewal?

Cheers,
Phil.

I haven't used Flux before, but have been with Hagerty for 5 years now. Each year, I've increased the agreed value (in line with my own guide in the sticky) and they have agreed to my request with no need to submit any supporting documentation.
If you want to insure it for more, it appears you simply pay more for the premium (for example, my insurance went up something like £30 this year, but I upped the agreed value by a good few thousand).

Thanks Duncan. That's good that they've agreed to your increases without any problems. I'm going to give them a call and do the same.

As mentioned before I'm with flux due to knowing people that work there sorting everything for me hassle free
But if I have had to phone up it does seem that there's quite a few there that are not interested in helping or aren't knowledgable enough to deal with some cases.
That said the people I know are very clued up on vehicles and values and have even got in touch with me regarding colours, mileage and rarity regarding agreed values.

Based on personal experience, I would avoid flux like the plague. Anyone, and I mean anyone, other than them.

I've just increased my Vee value on both cars with no issues at all. In fact, when I phoned them to say I want to increase the value of a couple of cars on my policy (there are several cars on the policy), the bloke laughed and said 'that will be the Clios then'! They insure quite a few Vees now and know the values well.

As an aside, they just let me insure a 2008 XKR convertible on my 'classic' policy as well for around £100 a year ! Great service, and good price.

I literally insured mine through Adrian Flux yesterday based on an agreed value of £20k which is probably about right for a P1 i guess.
Anyway i kid you not, "did you remove the back seats yourself" was one of the questions i was asked when correcting the guy on it not being a 5-seater like he said it was.
According to compare the meerkat, its worth £1400, yes one thousand four hundred pounds...

Wow, double [smilie=icon_eek.gif] [smilie=icon_eek.gif] ! At least you're happy with your valuation.

As others have said on here, I've had mixed reviews about Flux. One person I spoke to was very knowledgeable. On other occasions, it seems like I'm talking to someone like Direct Line or something.

I'll give you £2400 for it as i'm feeling generous :)

Have been with Hagerty for around 11 years now. Super service, and usually an email is all that is required to get something done. I have had one multi-car policy, with various storage locations and switching between locations is not an issue at all. Highly recommended.

One needs to have another vehicle as a daily driver to be eligible.

Ill be honest though ive tried Adrian Flux over the years and not only found them to be useless but also their prices way off the mark.
Credit to them though this time, really happy with the price, £465 im paying.
Not is it the first time in 10 years of driving im paying it in one go (rather than monthly) but also the first time ive ever had a sub £500 excess...its £400.

Now my only issue is the Clio 172 parked next to my V6....i paid £1300 for it and it actually costs me £600 a year to insure.

How is it that the V6 which costs more to actually service then an entire 172 car can be cheaper to insure than a cheap as hell 172?
Like id ever bother putting in a claim for a 172 in the event of an accident. To be honest i wouldnt care as lets face it, id not be getting £1300 back off the insurance company would i.

As somebody said on a previous thread about insuring as garaged and on the road etc (sorry cant remember who), common sense...isnt!

172's are so cheap now every little barry boy can afford one. Probably a higher risk car as opposed to something cherished like a V6 not available to Wayne and Waynetta Slob.

Hi,
With regards to your agreed value on the 944 I would appreciate it if you could PM me the details so I can investigate who advised you that you couldn't increase the value etc as they need to be re-educated that values can increase even if nothing has been done to the vehicle.
Just on a side issue I actually processed an agreed value on a Clio V6 this morning when I was in the office Agreed at the requested value!
Regards,
Dan.

Yeah true Dave i suppose.

[mention=2933,#000000]DAN@ADRIAN FLUX[/mention]: am i best completing the agreed value and returning the mileage declaration on the day my policy starts?
As both involve photos of mileage, dont want to give an early figure as policy doesnt start till 1st July.

You should have 14 days from the start of the policy to get these to us so that should be fine.

Hagerty over Flux for me no question

I set up agreed valution for the first time with hagerty this month, first i went with AF they lost/misplaced my sent photos etc via email so I then had to resend only for the agreed valuation offered to be considerably lower than requested,

I decided to cancel that policy and go with Hagerty after speaking to them (should of done it first admittedly) they where so much easier to deal with, I sent the required information and within 24 hours I got the requested agreed value (some £7000 more than AF...... [smilie=icon_eek.gif] )

Hagerty where a bit more expensive but I'm sure you would agree. Worth it.

I tried to insure all my 'classics' (3 of them Vees) with Hagerty on one policy as I've got several which is silly, but they wouldn't insure me as I I'm under 30! I couldn't understand as they are turning away business and I hardly drive them

TurboRenault have a deal with SKY insurance at the minute, SKY just took sixty percent of the next best quote for a fully comp agreed value on the V6.

https://turborenault.co.uk/sky-insurance.f515/

39yo, no claims or convictions in last 5 years, no no-claims bonus (Private) but they did allow for the fact I have max motor trade NCB which helped.

Ask for Alex, tell em you're with TurboRenault. You dont need to pay to subscribe to the forum, just sign up for a user ID.

I used them on my skyline GTR some years ago, they were nearly £400 cheaper than the nearest quote and had no problem dealing with the usual near 600BHP mods. How much did you pay dave?
