Adjusting the Idle Speed.

When I'm sat in trafic and me car is warmed up the Idle rests about 2 bars above 1,000rpm. How do I adjust that mofo?

idle valve need a clean? the ecu controls the idle speed (well it attempts too), id check for vacuum/air leaks as well. there is a screw on top of the plenum chamber but its factory set so i wouldn't of thought youd need to play with this, unless someones altered it in the past.

also things like air conditioning/power steering pumps (if its electric) can tell the ecu to raise the idle speed on some cars (i think the power steering does on a 19 - could be wrong though) as its got increased load on the engine.

As far as i've heard the idle speed isn't adjustable as such and if it's idling high there's probably a problem with some component.

Definitely check all the hoses like mentioned, also people always talk about the Coolant Temperature Sensor expiring on the 19s, might be worth changing this for the sake of £9

I think there is a slight air leak from the coolant header tank. I'm gonna get one from the scrappy and replace a couple of pipes too. In regards to the little screw, I haven't fooked with it, but maybe the previous owner did.

I guess what your trying to say is one of your hoses to the coolant tank is leaking slightly and letting air into the system? This wouldnt increase the idle speed but you may get an air lock which isn't good at all for the cooling system.

When we said check for an air leak, its more on the breather pipes and the servo pipes etc.. (all the ones on the round phlenum chamber at the front). Also the pipes to the idle speed regulator, big hose on the right hand side of the plenum chamber (under the throttle body). You usually can hear it sucking in air, especially if you rev it with your ear close to the plenum if its leaking.

the air filter box to tb hose can be ripped or missing, won't affect the idle.

If its not a dirty tb, one with a dicked around bypass screw or dirty ICV it'll be the CTS
