I'm Stoook, after alot of time & effort, I have finally put my phase 1 2wd in for a MOT (after 6 years)! its all good except for a rear wheel speed sensor (ABS). I located the faulty sensor, removed the complete hub (which will also be replaced (Knackered sensor ring)). I completely trashed the sensor removing it.... phoned Renault... & our survey says UUUUH OOOOOH!! they've discontinued it, I phoned a few people I know in the know & they couldn't help.... I can't believe that Renault only used that single sensor on the 21t??!! So I am hoping someone on here will be able to tell me if possibly a Laguna sensor etc would fit or if anyoneone knows the whereabouts of a new (or very good used) one?
any & all comments gr888ly appreciated

They should be on all 21's at least. The 21 has much narrower teeth on the sensor ring than most cars, which will make the ABS discover a lock much faster, and I assume that means it needs a special sensor as well.

I have new abs sensors and also new rear hubs/bearings/abs targets, however I need to dig out what they cost me and I need to list everything I have as I'm contemplating selling up my 21 and all the spares I have. Will let you know asap

Im sure the sensors are a Ford item aswell, think La21t knows more about it, but if you look on the plug section it has the Ford logo, i know mine does anyway.

As used in Ford Sierras and Granadas/Scorpios of the same era........both cars used a Bosch/Teves system. As Roddy says the sensors are Motorcraft items and last time I checked were ?40 odd from Ford.

No wonder the abs never works!

AFAIK the ford bits are not compatible, but not 100% on this.

I have spare rear target rings though, I can fit em to your bearing too if need be.

Thankyou ALL for your help, I have already sourced a sensor (Stub axle + Bearing with target ring) The ford compatibility is worth looking into & bearing in mind for the future.??!!
