Basically the abs is more trouble than its worth and i want to get rid of it, want i want to do instead is run new brake lines, and for the back ones run them through the car, through a brake bias valve so i can adjust them without having to stop get out jack it up etc.

i just wanna know if my plan will work before i go about ripping the unit out.

anyways heres my idea(quality drawing i know)

and also what happens with the mot if i remove it can i pass it without the abs installed?

cheers

alex

abs was an optional extra so i should think it can be removed without failing mot

ive disconnected my mates abs for the time being, we bought new rear discs and were told the rings would fit over, they didnt, brakes now are a bit too harsh imo lock up easily, going to be doing a full on conversion soon i think

I'd be interested in removig the abs if the pipes can be joined rather than replacing the whole things! Removing and reinstalling an engine with it in is a bitch!

sweet, was just wondering abut the t piece bits, but i suppose its all pressurised so it shouldnt be a problem logically, thanks for the second opinions though.

Brad yours wont have ABS if its on a K plate ...

Or is it a private plate?

there is no tee piece mate, there are 2 pipes that run to front brakes straight from master and 2 pipes that run down passenger side straight to the compastor, then 2 pipes to the rear calipers or cylinders.

craig

will need to tee pices to run it through and adjustable in car bias

ai, wat neil said im basically removing the load compensating valve and replacing it with a brake bias adaptor. anyone actually removed their abs and had an mot without it?

its like spare wheels if fitted must work if not there then brakes must work..

Dont try and use the exsisting pipes have just finished de-ABSing Mrs Naples. I have pics to post just havent got round to it yet.

As far as MOT is concered you cant leave any traces that there was ABS so you need to remove all the wheel sensors and wiring loom to get an MOT.

I all farness it's hard to de-ABS with engine in place as I found but can be done.

Replace all the brake lines for new ones from the Master Cylinder as there are joiners to the rear brakes just under the bulk head.

I'll post my guide with pics very soon so you can see how I did it

the whole car is stripped out as ive been rebuilding hence why im thinkin bout doin it now before i stick the lump back in so that should be cool.

cheers dude, gonna just buy a shit load of copper pipework and use my flaring tool and run completely new lines everywhere as thats the easiest way in my head.

only thing i cant get my head round is the abs light on the dash cos iirc it has to light up as part of the ecu check on startup, and then extinguish but if i remove the abs it will stay light and if i remove the bulb the car wont start!?!

Nope the one on clio-girls car stopped lighting up when i diconnected everything. doesnt come on at all and i havent removed the bulb!!
