Ok, ive heard all the stories about getting off the road when the ABS light starts flashing and all, but i like living on the edge. Well anyway, only on braking sometimes the ABS light comes on. Now i dont want the replies saying im breaking sharply. but then the hand brake light has started to come on with abs light. Are these related somehow like a dodgy connection. im guessing the handbrake switch is on the switch rather than on the rear brakes. So any clues will be great. Ive had the rear brakes/calipers and all replaced 2 months ago so has something not been placed correctly and making the ABS come on.

Whats that consisting of? How easy to change over?
Should be just a servo and master cylinder. Plus if you did have the Bendix system you'll need a legth of hose to connect the servo to the manifold. Easy to fit although access to the bolts to attcah the servo isd in the footwell which is a bit of a gymnastic excercise.

ok, ive topped up the brake fluid to max, still no change, i have removed the plug connecting to the fluid tank and it made no difference, haven't checked any of the wheels sensors though yet, the electronic noise when you press the brake seems to be going longer, is that it building up pressure for braking? could the motor be going for building up the pressure. I dont know how this braking system works. its a bendix system.

Bendix, must be an early K plater then. Unlucky.
its on its way out mate, Bendix is reknowned for this, its now just a matter of time until it gives up completely. Many a 19 has been scrapped because of this. You could spend god knows how long and £0000s chasing the problem down. That's if it doesn't cause you to put the car in a ditch in the meantime.

Thats why im not spending any money on it trying to sort it out. Ill start cleaning all the connectors and that lot this weekend. No ditches this way, 1.5miles to work, think ive got 3 junctions to take. Its just confusing about the hand brake light coming on really. Ill spray WD40 in the connectors to see if that would help. any other places to look really? would it be easier to buy a 2nd hand control unit for the brakes? thats if you know its working previously
Not sure why you'd need to change the pedal box or brakelines. I didn't.
Just stuck new servo in place and hitched it up to the brake pedal. No issue there.
Wondered about the brake lines, but decided to try gently bending existing lines to new master cylinder. It worked.
As far as loom, just took the entire ABS computer out. Only thing I don't have is the low brake fluid warning from the reservoir
