A Different Vee Back From SG Motorsport

GlowRed

New Member
In the middle of July my Vee went to SG Motorsport where Scott performed quite a lot of work on the car. I didn’t think it was going to take over 5 months to do the work but Scott dropped it back today and it looks and drives like a different car (although I’ve only driven a very short distance). The list of work is as follows:

Service car including all fluids changed and spark plugs

Change steering wheel for new Sabelt Renault Sport version. Add Phase I indicator with integrated horn

Install new custom (with Renault Sport Logo on headrests) Pole Position Seats using JonnyC’s low seat mounts, which were painted Illiad

Paint and fit an original Trophy spoiler to the car ensuring a perfect fit using Russo’s trophy base plate so OEM fixings can be used (apparently this took 16hrs to do and is the best fit Scott has seen to date)

Paint and fit Russo’s front splitter

Remove and paint chipped front and rear bumpers

Remove engine and install new Quaife ATB differential

Install TTV lightweight flywheel

Replace clutch (Phase I clutch was installed)

Cam belt change and other any other necessary work whilst engine was out

Install new KW suspension including K-Tec top mounts for the front

Paint and fit set of Cromodoras that had already been crack tested and primed

Corner weight the car

I would like to thank  :

JonnyC for making the seat side mounts for me
Russo for the front splitter, loan of his spoiler base mould and for the help and advice he has given me
Scott @ SG Motorsport for his patience and quality of workmanship
This forum and its members who provide information, help and assistance that would be impossible to find elsewhere

I’m now looking forward to 2015 and getting the car on the road and also wondering what other ‘improvements’ can be made. :race:

Wow! Great spec - looks amazing! That is pretty much the car that Renualtsport should have originally delivered. Well worth the wait!

Looks stunning Carl
Loads of nice bits gone into your 'dream' spec vee so enjoy the :race: now, you've waited long enough!!!

Hows the wheels?

Wheels look great, rear tyres are now 245/40 R18 and look a better than the 255's.

On a very very short drive I had no problems but will only be able confirm if they are totally OK when I take it on track.

Indeed, would be interested to know how the wheels hold up with spirited driving on B roads and track work........

Thanks for all the positive comments.

The main focus of the updates was to improve handling, aero, seating position and weight saving. The fact that it looks great is an added benefit.

The weight of the car was reduced by nearly 45kg.

Hopefully, I'll see the improvements on the track days that I'll do next year :race:

That spoiler looks really good, I wish someone would make them so they can be fitted with standard fixings.

Seating position looks brilliant too.

Hummm...I was contemplating painting my sidemounts Illiad. It's handy that I now have a reference.

Would be interested to hear more about the diff and flywheel. Drivability etc.

What's the score with the pole positions then, have them been re-trimmed, again, something I'm interested in doing.

Good work!

That interior looks blooming fantastic!!! Be interested to hear your thoughts how the upgrades effect the car once you have had proper drive in it.

Good work!

The seats were brand new from Capital Seating.

I got them to replace the headrest panels which had Recaro in big letters on them with panels with the Renault Sport Logo, using the same 'leather'. The logo is the same size as the ones on the OEM seats.

Capital also made me some custom pretensioner covers using the same 'leather'.

Cool. When your steering wheel needs refurbed (which it will in a year) speak to RoyalSteeringwheels.

Only seeing this thread now Carl.

The seat mounts look very good in Illiad, glad you are pleased with the seating position. It's surprising the difference it really makes to driving the car. Hope you have many happy miles of driving.

Jonny
