99 Megane Cab

Hi all, Well picked up a Megane Cab at auction for 375 Hammer price 511 including buyers fee's. Shes got 76k on the clock and MOT'd to october 2013. Body work not imaculate but no major signs of rust that i could see. I only had a few mins to look round it before it went through the auction so was a bit of a suck it and see buy.

Drove her home that night (well i didnt, the mrs did lol). Had a quick look around the car when we got back but it was dark so couldnt see much. The auction only reported 2 service stamps and that they thought the milage was incorrect, well how little did they know. opened up the glove box and it was stuffed to the brim with old MOT's, reciepts and even an old v5.

The last owner has had it since 2005, She was doing barely 2000 miles a year in it and had had it serviced every year. Only thing that i couldnt find in the reciepts was a record of a cam belt change (Gutted).

Had a bit more of a look over it yesterday (12th), Rear screen is well misted up so might need replacing but will try some plastic polish and see how it comes up. Passanger side seat is wet but cant see any signs of water ingress so not sure whats going on with that one. Took her for a little run and the idle is very eratic, it even idles at nearly 2k sometimes so im guessing the rubber seals have gone on the throttle body. When warm theres a noisy tensioner or something so will get that sorted with the cambelt change. Oil look very clean and doesnt seem to be dropping any anywhere.. No signs of coolent leaks that i can see.

Job list so far:-

Cambelt and water pump
Rear screen - screen polish £10
Throttle body and inlet manifold seals £20
Power aerial - £20 - Now Fixed
Interior light completely knackered £30+
Recirculation flap motor - £10-£50 depending on if from scrappers or new
Dogbone mount - £20

As from my tech question the immobilser decided to die so its not been running for three weeks. Ended up with a new ECU and UCH - 72 quid + delivery. now got 2 keys but need a key blade cutting

Id done the throttle body seals before i knew that the immobiliser had popped its cloggs so she is idleing correctly and has more power through the rev range.

Will Post some pics if i ever get time to take some.

Spotted a boot lid with spoiler on it on Ebay was up at 30 quid but haggled down to 20.

Swapped it over saturday afternoon after getting a new rear reg plate made up.

Swapped out all the lock mechanism as well.. but the motor for the central locking had given up the ghost on the original boot so swapped it out for the one that came with replacement boot lid.

Noticed one of the rear speakers is dead so need a set of 4" speakers to replace the OEM ones.

As soon as it warms up its time to attack the rear screen
