6.5k.... What car would you buy?

OE discs are great.
Pads on the other hand ;)

I might also argue there is slightly more to the r26 than chairs and a diff ;)
You'd argue that the R26 is the greatest vehicle of all time.
You ought to be Polish cos every car my drivdriversr have is 'the best' until the next one. Ive got one who says his Insignia 'is like Vauxhall E Class' - I think of you everytime he says it

I think of a grumpy old twat every time I read your stuff.

Its a great car for the money.

Its also probably the fastest car I have had. And the best handling. Not the most fun though - that belongs to the five GT.

The Leon fr are pants, ive drove a couple. Handling is shite and the interior is 'plastic', diesels come with many problems

An instructor took me on several laps around the Rockingham oval in a Cupra FR once. We were hitting 125mph on some of the bends. I didnt feel very safe in it to be honest. To make matters worse when we stopped the instructor said the steering was twitching like mad at that speed. I replied "thats not all what was twitching....."

I have driven the Seat on the Ring (with KW clubsport coilovers), I found it quite good, and I'm not a VW fan;-)

My brothers R26 in Spa and La châtre (KW V3 Coilovers), my favourite trackcar so far!!!,

My old Clio R27 (OE, Federal tires) on the Ring, superb handling... but turbo missing,

The Focus ST225 (never driven on Track) I found the handling very poor and the Electronics really annoying.
As the Focus RS is the complete opposite I loved to drive it on Street and Ring (but you will not get it for 6.5k)

For me it would be the R26, except I could build an R26 engine in a clio 3 RS for 6.5K

Other car for 6.5K or less, the old Audi S3, remap and go;-)

Focus RS sounds good...mark 1 for 8-8.5k in UK. The ST has the nice Volvo engine (I have an S70R) but liners need shimming if it is to be used hard/tuned.

Just my 2p's worth, i'd find a clean S2000 for a chunk under your budget and then spend the extra on a supercharger or turbo kit. Given your car history, you know what your doing in this department and i'm sure you'd enjoy the challenge. The S2000's are awesome out of the box and I loved mine, but add a supercharger or turbo to the mix and the things are just insane.

I know they get refered to as Jap crap, but it was a car I really enjoyed owning. It was solid and had no issues at all, servicing was also very resonable from my Honda dealer. I only sold it, as the miles were going up and i knew its value would drop after a certain point.
